I think the Guns of the Week section of your website should be updated more often. Or just change the title to something like, "Guns of the Quarter," because it isn't updated enough.

This basically IS my primary job. Where does the time go? As noted, 15+ hours a week is consumed by doing the daily bulletin. 10-12 hours per week just answering emails and monitoring the board. Maybe another 10 hours a week talking to people about projects or ordering/packing items for testing. Saturday night, for example, I spent a couple hours on the phone with a gunsmith talking about rimfire actions and 2-groove barrels for a future story. Then a number of hours are spent making sure everything works right with the servers and trying to update/upgrade pages. That's about 40 hrs right there, before doing major articles.
Today, for example, I'll update the BLOG and that will take 5 hours or so. I'll also spend two hours at a range taking some more pictures for a future story.
It would basically be impossible to run the site at this level and hold down a full-time position.
Note, a staff writer on a magazine might do 2, at the most 3 articles a month, and normally they wouldn't also be doing marketing, PR, answering emails, and building the layout,in our case building html pages). Layout is VERY time-consuming.
To put things in perspective, one of the premier shooting magazines charges $37.00/year. If they have 10,000 subscribers that's $370,000 in revenue BEFORE advertising. Currently our user donations generate about $2400/year, less than 1% of $370K.
