Guns etc you wish you NEVER bought

Both regrets were Kimber.
I bought an early production 1911 that was an absolute joy to shoot. A few years later I bought the Eclipse model sight unseen. Turns out it was a II designation, the worst kind of 1911 garbage. It lasted about three months in my safe before hitting the road.
A couple years ago Kimber introduced the 84M Hunter. Although rather pedestrian looking, it had some attributes that got my attention. It was very lightweight and was available in 257 Roberts (a caliber I had a severe yen for). It never shot decent groups and it never fed nor ejected properly. A true disappointment for sure. It went away and my 257 Bob itch has been scratched by a beauty of a Ruger No. 1.
Everyone looks better with a Ruger #1

I thought it would also be interesting to see what people regret buying and why. If someone had problems with XXX brand, do not post how great your's is. This is not a debate. My list over the decades has gotten long.

Kel-Tek PMR 30 --- 38% malfunction rate with all ammo
Volquartsen 22 mag scorpion ---- $2,000.00 pistol and only functioned reliably with 50 gr. ammo, 8% malfunction rate with anything else. Went back once. Same problem. Expected much better for the cost.
Leupold varie x 3 scope --- elevation wouldn't track. Returned 4 times. Finally corrected the tracking but the reticle would rotate with every shot. After getting it back the 5th time sold it to a lawyer......... yes I told him all the problems. Leupold is the reason I adopted the general policy of only returning things once.
11 S&W handguns. Various problems but these were from the 70s and 80s. Bangor Punta products.
Rock Island 1911 22 magnum. Malfunctions after first magazine. Returned, still had same problems.
Springfield armory M1A. Malfunction problems, 3 returns, finally sent a new rifle. Just lost my interest in it.
Armalite 308. Malfunction consistently. Factory couldn't figure out the problem. A shooting friend pointed out that the holes that held the upper and lower together were not drilled round, they were elongated.
Savage A22 mag. worse trigger ever!
USFA .22 Zip Pistol

First gun was a T/C TCR. Came with a 223 Rem and 7-08 barrels. Shot patterns at 100 yards with both barrels. Sold to guy who bought firearms, but never shot them. Second was a Rem 700 VS , 308 when Remington offered a left hand back in 1996. Took one month to arrive at the gun store (Gander Mnt.) Bolt face was cut with a very dull cutter, bolt hand extraction cam galled after 50 rounds, receiver/barrel sat canted to the right in the HS Precision stock and the first three shots would group 3/8”, but the next shots would string out to the 1:00 position almost an inch from POA. Sent it back through GM. Remington had it for three months and sent it back having not done anything to it. Sold that POS to finance a rifle build to compete in the Wimbledon Cup. Third is a Walther P22 I currently have. It shoots and ejects seven different brands of 22LR ammo, but the slide cracked. Walther sent me a replacement which took two months, and now has a life time warranty for the slides as a result of so many of them cracking. I lost confidence in it as it has me wondering when the replacement slide will crack.

My shooting buddy back in 1995 bought a Colt AR15 Target. Shot 3” groups at 100 yards. He and I tried multiple handloads with no success. He paid $800 or $900 for that POS.

Every Stoger gun I owned was junk, glad l dumped them eons ago. Simmons scopes I had were all junk, cept for the whitetail ones, dumped them also.

I gotta list of them:
-Ruger 10/22 - is a joke
-Cooper 36 - extraction problems nothing can fixit, but a design change/ hence the new rim fire model 57.
-Cooper 22 chambered in 22BR. Action is threaded after bolt race way is broached, is the reason why there isn’t over a 1” diameter barrel diameter available, action flex comes into play… bedding pad came unstuck from stock…
-Walter P22- plastic wears out .. had slide to come off 2 times, sold it the third time it was fixed..
-Sig mosquito 22lr- same as plastic Walter, plastic wears out..
-Rem VLS-221FB- Gander Mountain purchase- 1/4” pits in lands groove of barrel..
- S&W 422- barrel nut kept coming loose, aluminum frame wore out.. was accurate & light !!
Tacom 22LR ar upper- was not made to run suppressed…

Browning Maxus 12 ga.
1st issue was “soft strike” from firing pin.
Sent back to Browning. Issue resolved. Then constantly the action would get stuck 1/2 way after firing. Cleaned or uncleaned. Sold it , happy day. Will never buy anything Browning.

A pair of Howa 1500's. One Sporter weight mini action on 6.5 grendel and a full size 1500 in 6.5 creedmoor with a heavy barrel. Both of them kept acting like the stocks were flexing in the bags. Replaced the stocks with laminate and found out the stocks weren't flexing. The barrels were as they heated. Both guns took 3-6 rds and the barrels were moving into the stocks on the left side and accuracy was gone. Promptly moved them on to the local pawnshop for someone's hunting pleasure.
