guncoat compared to the rest?

sending my build to the smith and i am wondering because his shop uses guncoat. how is guncoat compared to ceracoat or the rest of them as for durability etc?
thanks...

I have applied GunKote on three or four hunting rifles and it holds up fairly well. It will scratch on rocks and such but am generally happy with it. Many more colors for Ceracoat though and it can be purchased in single use kits for something like $30. That plus there is a bake-free version. The application is the same - spray. If you want it, talk to him or someone else can do the coating when he is done with the metal work.

I have been using GunKote for many years and am quite happy with it. At the SHOT show the KG folks had an abrasion test station set up and, by their criteria, it was tougher than Ceracoat. Gun Kote goes on much less thick than Ceracoat, which matters for close tolerance fits. All of the spray on finishes will scratch and ding, and also wear at the corners, just like parkerizing or bluing.
I like using Gun Kote because it is a little more user-friendly than Ceracoat, judging by their application information.

Anything other than Cerakote is basically spray paint. Cerakote is not a paint but a Ceramic based coating that retains many properties of the ceramics. It has proven itself to me many times over in actual use.

As an epoxy based coating, Gun-Kote is more durable and corrosion resistant than spray paint! Have nothing against Ceracoat, just don't want to denigrate a good product.
