Gun show Savage LRPV steal!

Couple buddies from MA came up for a ride yesterday. I'm in NH. After hitting Makris for lunch and a drink they wanted to checkout the Concord Gun show, so I obviously tagged along. I'm not a big fan of gun shows because the last one I went to years ago was in CT and it sucked.

While killing time waiting for my buddies, I walked by a Savage LRPV in .22-250 for $600. While I was looking at it the dealer said I could have it for $500. Damn, damn, damn was all I could think because we were on the Harleys. The local police officer and I were talking about it and he said just strap it over your back. They don't "like" it, but they see it and it's not illegal. God bless New Hampshire.

Was kicking myself all last night for not buying a sling and throwing over my shoulder as the officer suggested. Hopped it the truck this morning and showed up just after the doors to the show opened and the gun was still there. It isn't any longer! Just bore scoped it and looks like a typical box of ammo at best safe queen. Zero chamber wear or throat erosion. Still has all the typical chatter marks of most factory barrels. No where even close to being broken in.

Not planning to keep the barrel and maybe not even the stock, but I was sure in the market for a Target Action. Pretty happy with the score and no transfer fees or shipping to deal with!

Problem is that NH elected a house full of Dems last fall. They have both chambers in the legislature and they are pushing gun control bills though. NH has been being invaded by MA for quite a while now, so the south part of the state is getting ruined, and there are two major liberal pockets around Dartmouth College (where I live) and around Keene State in Keene. NH is one election cycle from being MA lite.

The Republican gov in VT signed an assault weapons/magazine limits bill last yr. The NY Senate was controlled by Republicans when they passed all that stupid stuff a few yrs back.

What passes for a Republican up here in the north east is not the same as the rest of the country (Kali excluded) .

You're preaching to the choir my friend. NH is going to be another CT or MA within the next 10 years or so at the rate it's going. I can never understand why all these liberals finally bail out of the states they've destroyed only to move to a conservative state that's doing extremely well(low crime and low unemployment) only to push the same BS socialist policies that destroyed the state they are fleeing from. They're like a f'ing plague!

Sparky, We have a pretty good gun show this weekend in Oregon but I'm dragging my feet going because I'm sure I'll find something I have to have. Congrats on finding a great gun.

You did really well. That's about what I paid for a bare receiver and trigger a couple years ago.

I bought a 1022T that way before. Looked at it haggled the price a bit and told the guy he needed to throw on a used sling from his pile. After a confused look I pointed to my helmet on the stack of ammo crates. Rode almost 50 miles home slung across my back.

We USED to have a very good show here in central Texas, until we had a very memorable Whisky-Tango-Foxtrot moment. A first time exhibitor was carrying in his stash to sell when his loaded sidearm DISCHARGED INSIDE THE EXHIBIT HALL. He was found to have several firearms loaded and cocked in his "stuff", all in violation of the exhibition rules, and that was to be the last show in the county. Civic leaders pulled the plug on ANY future gun shows.

Unfortunately Darwinism didn't kick in until it was too late in this instance...he was only slightly injured.

Nice snag!!! That’s exactly why my wifey won’t let me go to gun shows. I always came home with a gun!:(;)

We USED to have a very good show here in central Texas,
they got one in Bastrop 11th. & 12th. of May. Some people told me that it was packed, must be people from Austin, I'm 6 miles East of there and still picked up some sales staying home.
Debating the next. I don't think they had much in powder and primers from what I was told. But if you go, call, I'm right down the road.
