Gun Scale for IBS Matches

Terry, in St. Johnsbury we use an inexpensive set of "postal scales" off eBay which go to 30-lbs. and we invested in a set of certified (as in expensive) check weights of 1/2-lb., 3-lbs., and 10-lbs. In several years of use it has never been off even a tenth of an ounce.

We went with a myweigh that read up to 15lbs and I am very happy with it. I would imagine a model that read up to 25-30lbs would be great for you application and serve you well.

I have seen the scale that ReedG uses and can speak to its accuracy. We have a set of certified weights at my matches an my scale is right on the money every time.

An accurate scale will run you $35-50
Certified weights...priceless. well not really, those SOB's will run you a pretty penny, but you don't want to leave any doubt.

Terry, Check with David Dorris at Benchsource where he and Mike Moses got the scale for the Memphis range. Ii is a certified scale with certified weights to check it. Ron

That is the exact scale I purchased for our club. Works fine, lasts a long time and the price was great.

You can talk scales and it doesn't mean a thing without a certified weigh. The scale can be certified and not level and it will be wrong,so without the weight you can not check it. In long range they don't factor in for scale error, but they do because they don't have the weight.......jim

Ultraship Ultra-50. At amazon for $32.00. Weighes to 55# and is accurate. Compact, I put a board on mine to set guns on, you can zero with board then do your weighing. Have used mine for over 5 years. Pete

Have used the Ultra Ship scale for ten years without a hic-up. Checked it once or twice against my local post office scales and it's been spot on.

To keep any arguments down, get some certified weights just to prove the scale is doing what it's supposed to do. You get a gun that's over by a couple a three ounces, the argument will start, blaming the scale.
