Gun safes and black friday

looking at Dicks and Tractor Supply- both have safes on sale this week. Essentially the same size and money-Dicks is a Stack On and Tractor Supply is a Cannon. Both electronic locks. Have a Liberty Fatboy with mechanical lock, I love it. Any opinions on Stack On versus Cannon with electronic locks? Not clear if either have electrical access for dehumidifier stick. What's advice from any users of same?

I have a Cannon that I purchased from Tractor Supply last year. I really like it the only thing I'd do differently is purchase a taller safe so I would have room for my longer rifles & pistols & other gear on the top shelf. There is a hole in the back ( about 2' from the bottom) & I purchased an outlet kit from either tractor supply or a local sporting goods shop I can't remember.

Enjoy

... and when u finally decide on the one you want, get at least the next size up from that.

Sound advice above here. It's similar to buying/building a shed! I've seen many of my friends kicking themselves for not buying or building larger than what they thought they would need.

I have both a Canon and a Stack On. Both well built, but my Canon does not have locking lugs on the hinge side of the door. The Canon was also a cheaper version built for Costco, so it may be unique. The Canon has a lifetime warranty against theft and fire and is solid enough that I feel I'm keeping the items in it reasonably secure, but I do think my Stack On is a bit better built. Ymmv.

I will reiterate the above suggestions:

It's like buying a tent when they state that it's designed for 4-persons. I just laugh and call it a two-person tent when you add in gear and comfort for a good night's sleep. Overbuy both the size and the quality of the safe. The number of rifles accommodated is BS unless you don't care about the condition of your rifles. When your collection grows beyond a couple of big safes it's time to build in a room which becomes your safe. It's actually easy and really convenient for having a larger number of firearms.

Regards.

When I bought a Liberty safe a few years ago, I bought the largest one that would fit the "space" where the safe would be installed........now I'm searching the house for another "space." Agreed, buy the biggest safe you can afford / fit into your "space".....you will fill it up and then some.

i have a connon from tractor supply... takes 4 people to move it. it has electric hook up, I have two golden rods in mine.

Thank you, spotted the hole earlier today looking at Tractor Supply safe.

Thanks for info-I'll check on Cannon hinge side locking lugs.

Seem to be moving in the secure room idea, haven't broached the idea with significant other yet. Mums the word.

Exactly my situation. Good to know I'm keeping good company!

And you like it? I'm leaning towards TS since it's only a half hour away as opposed to Dicks which is an hour away. Thanks for replying.

I have a Stack On and it is great. Mine has both , a electronic lock and a backup key lock for when the battery in the electronic lock shots craps. The safe is fire rated and came with a pass thru electric outlet installed and is waterproof in water up to the lock.
It has operated flawlessly, I cant see how you could go wrong with a Stack On.

Ive had no problems with mine. had it for 8-10 years now. still got the original 9 volt battery in the key pad too. Just now gonna have to replace it, but still havent done it yet.

as with any safe, if it says 40 guns... dont plan on fitting 40.. aint gonna happen when you got scopes and such... usually about half what they advertise once you get stuff in there... mine fits 32 inch barrel rifles easily with some room to spare still. Id buy another

If you look at safes and find two that seem identical other than capacity, buy the one that holds less.
Seems counter productive, but the spacing fits bolt rifles better with the lower number.
The spacing is truly based on unscoped lever actions and single shot shotguns

Thanks for that about spacing. Got a Liberty fatboy with scoped rifles and I know what reality versus advertised capacity is. Thanks for input. Never enough room for a habit that's got legs.
