Gun collection for sale

I am assisting a deceased friends son sell some of his gun collection, could anybody tell me where I could go to get a ballpark figure for these firearms? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Gunbroker.com, however, don't believe list prices for stuff is real value. Look only at items with actual bids, and see where they wind up selling. That is reality, list price is not...

The Blue Book of gun values. Steve Fjestad writes it.Midway has them as well as many other outlets.

2 years ago, i had the responsibility of settleing an estate for a dear friend, he had well over 200 firearms, valued at prices between $300 and $20,000 -
they were a gift to the NRA foundation.

The guns were sold by auction by an orginization the NRA used.

i learned two things-
the auction is the way to go,
do not offer too many at one time

you will choke the market if you offer too may at one time.

Take your time and offer some, sell them then offer more, etc. --if you have that freedom

Bob

your gun and the one in the auction may not even be close...
some guns are in demand today, some are not.

blue book is a guide not a bible, selling bids are reasonable..IF you compare what they sold to your gun.
investigate dealer to dealer cost for auction sales.

do not get wrapped in a knot trying for the last dollar...sell reasonable and fast, be done with the task....and you will have helped a friend.

Hire a auctioneer, there was a 80 gun estate auction here locally about a month ago and Holy Cow it was nuts. Every gun sold way over what they were worth.

If you are checking prices on Gunbroker, you can search completed auctions only. That way you do not have to comb through all the current auctions.

I sold a collection one at a time on Gunbroker. Their fees are less than an auctioneer will charge. Only PIA was mailing them. The USPS broke two irreplacable stocks on rifles I sent. They were insured, but it took me 5 months to collect.

If you have a HONEST LGS they should be able to help you with the values.
