Gun case

What do you all use for gun cases? My F/class rigs are 52" tip to tail and I'm having one hard time trying to find a case. I'd sure hate to show up at a match with a $3000.00 dollar rifle wrapped in a blanket. Thank you.

Ps. Web sites would be great also. Thanks again

I forgot to add I would prefer hard sided.

I believe Creedmore sells a soft case that is 52" long and 12" high for less than $100. Also, I just ordered a soft case from Midway that is 56" long and 12" high and I am not sure, but it may hold two rifles. It's about $115.

If you want a quality hard case, try Starlite or Pelican cases. That's what I have. A bit pricey but well worth it. I've had mine some 30+ years, and they are still in excellent condition. They will accommodate up to 54 inches. A double case will accommodate one firearm with plenty of room for an extra bolt, barrel, or cleaning accessories.

When you take into consideration what these rifles cost, you do want the best protection for them you can get. I always liked the Safari type case because they allow the rifle to be held in the vertical position and not laying on it side squished in the case.

I looked for a long time until I found that Strong rifle cases still make a case like this that is long enough for my match rifles. The Strong case is 57" inside dimension. Take a look I use a double rifle case because they are wide enough that they stand upright, simple to convert to a single rifle. Pricey - yep they are but considering what they hold cheap in comparison. The case I believe you would want is there SSA6009.

+1 on the Plano Air Glide, keeps the rifle vertical and is 50.00 shipped. It is also not heavy to carry to the bench. I like the Strong brand also but they are heavy and pricey.

I've got a Plano Air Glide, it's a nice case for what it is. But, while I don't know how long my F-Open rifle is currently, it fits with maybe a centimeter to spare, and will not fit when the barrel burns out and gets replaced by the longer replacement I have. So check the length on the Plano.

I bought a Plano All-Weather from Bullets.com and couldn't be any happier.

Hmm. I just ordered one of these from Amazon yesterday. Looks like Shiraz' outfit is the same delivered price. I wish I had ordered it from them, now.

Amazon hadn't shipped it, so I cancelled and ordered from Bullets.com. Saved .29 and bought it from a shooting sport supporter. Win.

Look at Academy.com for the Plano / Game Winner GUN GUARD double scoped rifle case with wheels. $109.99 + 9 shipping.
I have two of them, and they are very sturdy, I'm very happy with them.

I think that is basically the same case as the one from bullets.com.

The air glides are to short, I have one. Looked at the Plano/game winner today it would work except they have areas recessed in side for the handle pivots and the wheels so my gun can't even be put in on an angle. The all weather is the same as the game winner. All the pelicans I find are 50.50 or less interior.

If you need a long case (like for a Palma rifle), the only manufacturer that I could find is Prone2success. Very nice padded case 58" long... $78 plus shipping. The owner is a very nice guy and service is fast.

midwayusa.com has a 56" drag bag-style case. Very well made. Plenty of room for a 52" rifle. I can also carry a spotting scope, stand, Sinclair gen 3 bipod, mirage shield, tripod with adapter for my weather station, Kestrel 4500. Heavy, oh boy, is it heavy, but it has a backpack harness.

starlightcases.com has a hard case, the Starlight SC-061352 is the cats' ass. With a 52" rifle you may have to position it an angle, unless you have an adjustable buttplate. This case is the largest one I've found that doesn't need its' own golf cart to move it around. It has a center mounted handle and an end mounted handle with wheels on the other end. This case can hold even MORE "stuff" than the drag bag!

More than one company makes long cases. Strong makes them to 64" if you have the money.

As for myself I don't care about this cost of a superior case, and as a matter of fact would run from the cheaper cases. It just doesn't make sense to put a $6,000 dollar rifle in a cheap case.
