Gun Appraisers

I have been blessed with some collectible guns, rifles and pistols, which I do not need, and am in need of an appraisal so that I can move it out of my safe. Can someone give me some info on an honest appraiser? Appreciate the help.

Across the country, Cabelas has the "Gun Locker", those guy's are paid employes and have no stake in the game, :-\

NECCHI, Unless Cablea's is the 1 who is the buyer. I've seen guys quoted less than PAWN prices on VERY HIGH QUALITY SS's OU's and Rifles when Cabelea's was the purchaser (turned my stomach)to see someone shortened like that(course the person's DIDN'T HAVE to except the offer either) For Insureance it wouldn't be my first choice. I went through the folk's (not mine) insureance company and they recommended a company in ILL. that has an appraiser that travels for them. Cost me $150 (some years ago)and I'm happy with the outcome.

I am slowly selling my collection of Sako rifles. I can tell you that prices in the Blue Book and Gun Buyers Digest are way off. Some way high, others way low. I don't look at those any more. What I do is try to find similar models on gunbroker and guns america.com. There are other auction sites. These generally draw top dollar, but there are fees to the seller. Deduct a little from the selling price on those sites, and that is what you might expect.

Purchase a "BLUE BOOK of GUN VALUES" they are published every year and are not cheap. But they are worth every penny.
