Gun and trophy insurance

Serial numbers of everything, multiple photos of everything, sales receipts if you have them also. Like an experienced insurance salesman,my ex-wife was very good at obtaining all the above.;)o_O

Farm Bureau here in Arkansas adds firearms and optics onto a separate policy on your inland marine policy. Protects them where ever you are, traveling, hunting, home, fire, theft, damage ect. for a dollar per hundred dollars of listed value per year, but here's the kicker, it's per specific gun. You give them the serial number of the scope and rifle and it's covered. Makes it hard to carry different guns plus it can get expensive if you have a lot of guns that you want covered. I have a fire and relatively theft proof storage system and shoot whatever I like here at home but insure my EDC and truck rifle for me as well as my wife for less than a hundred bucks a year, they will also allow you to list however many you want for a monthly rate like a prarrie dog trip or during deer season and cancel when you get home......works out for us

My homeowner's insurance requires a separate rider for firearms. Like others have said, have serial numbers and photos with the insurance.

I have a policy with the company gun and trophy insurance. Started it a few years ago after someone on here few years ago and made me realize I needed one. They were easy to work with. Thankfully I haven't had to use it and hope I never do but it's peice of mind.

Wanting to know people's thoughts and experiences with separate gun insurance policies. Thanks for input

I would get a separate policy from Eastern, Lockton, Historic Arms, Lloyd's of London, or Joseph Chiarello.

You will find many of these will give you more $ of coverage for a more competitive premium and will not want individual items scheduled until $25-30k in value, i.e. machine guns.

In general most homeowner's insurance policies cover replacement costs for the structure, and for personal or general property. The general property coverage is usually some percentage of the overall cost of the policy.

I do not have a list of such property, figuring the amount I would get would get would more than cover what was lost. If I wanted more coverage, I can have agency increase the general personal property limits, and pay a little extra for it.

any policy should have replacement or cash option. Why because they will do there very best to shortchange you. In the case of coin collections best have a current appraisal. Collectable weapons also and any other antiques, personal possessions. been down this road back in the mid 70's . receipts or appraisals, serial # if it has any and photographs are mandatory if you want to get close to break even.

I haven't looked into it for years but Safari Club International had some reasonably priced insurance. Membership I think is under $80 a year. Considering the clientele it must be good.
Any members here?

I have Gun & Trophy insurance and I had one claim 2-3 years ago. I knocked a Dakota Rifle over and broke the stock in two pieces. I decided I would call G & T to see if it was covered and they said it was and to get a replacement cost for a new stock, the replacement cost was $2500.00. I thought oh great, they will never approve that much, but sure enough they did. There was a $500.00 deductible, but everything went through with no problems at all, I would recommend Gun and Trophy 100%
