Guess You Could Call This "Reloading"

I feel like such a piker now. Six weeks ago I had a surgical procedure to fuse C2-3-4. But I got a new toy with mine: a bone growth stimulator to wear for 9-12 months four hours a day. It looks like a horse collar with a timer on it.
The neurosurgeon (prettiest lady I've met since my lovely Christian wife 37 years ago) says if I am a good boy I can shoot a medium recoiling rifle (308 Win)about Christmas off hand to see how I am healing.

Was told Fri., from the neurosurgeon, that there is nothing they can do for my bent, arthritic, degenerating cervical spine. I have a pill that is working pretty well on the neuropathy, and they tell me there is an injection that can help......Best of luck to both of you with your recovery. I guess I am in more of a " management " situation.......I can still do what I like to do, it just sounds like popcorn going off in my head when I move my neck.....LOL

Regards
Rick

Got Home from the hospital Friday after spine surgery last Monday. Had a five-hour procedure. Had two rods, eight screws and four spacers installed between four vertebrae. Hope this helps my 74-year-old bones.

My wife had very similar surgery. Before surgery, she could barely walk with a walker, she could not sit in a chair without significant pain and needed to recline for any relief at all. Post surgery - nearly immediate relief. Six months after surgery and you would never know that anything was wrong with her. I told her surgeon that he literally performed a miracle.

Good luck on your recovery - better days lay shortly ahead.

Hope you heal well and fast Pirate! It’s your job and no one else can do it! :-)

I have 3 vertebrae fused in my neck and fusion in my lower back scheduled for February. (Along with 2 different surgeries to fix herniated discs but they were pretty minor)

Just plain walking is what my surgeon tells me to do to strengthen my back. It’s worked for about 18 months but in my lower back it’s vertebrae on top of vertebrae with nothing between them so I’m losing the battle and won’t put the surgery off any longer. That and I still have my good insurance until I’m 65 (60 now) and my surgeon is in semi retirement mode. He’s a good friend, a devout christian and I have the faith of a child in him.
