GRT NextGen

Did you know members of the Discord group "GordonsReloading" have been working on "GRT NextGen" since his passing?

GRT NextGen appears to be on track for release EOY 2024 (Windoz, macOS, Linux), but in 2025 they have a comprehensive list of new features and additional platform support. If you're into this stuff, you'll likely want to check out what they are working on.

I installed the Linux version some weeks back and after the whole 5min it took to install and start using I thought this can't just die on the vine. Today I was poking around looking for breadcrumbs and fell on their discord channel. So happy to see not only is it being worked on, but for various platforms too.

Known about this since it started but nobody seemed too interested. I worked with Gordon and Charlie on a few powder models and quickly learned that they both are the most knowledgeable people I've ever met in the reloading. The continuation team has been interviewing and assembling quite a group for the nexgen. The neysayers and critics will be amazed.
Been running the Linux version for a few yrs and like it very much but it does have a few quirks. Its going to get better

Hey Ken, I saw your posts over there wondered if you were here. Thanks for speaking up. I see lots of comments on GRT here so was surprised when a search found nothing on nextgen and figured I'd share. Amazed likely, but when I saw the list of stuff they are working on it was more like close my mouth before flies got in. Just short of shocking and nice to see they aren't just propping it up.

I've only ran it once and played around with a few older calibers I have reloaded for over the years. It's really interesting, but I have to admit I've just scratched the surface. Looking forward to nextgen and hopefully someone will do a tutorial or three on it.

Exciting things coming. Once you calibrate it for each combination its very accurate. Be sure to use the obt tool to calibrate to actual velocities if you havent already.

I’ve been using GRT for a few years. I think it is a good tool for my purposes. I really like it for load developement

You can’t use this tool on IPad can you? I know when it first came out you could not but with all the advancements I didn’t know if you could or not..

So far I believe there isn't an Apple or iPad version.
The future plans are up to those folks who are putting in the work. This was a labor of love for Gordon who recently passed away, and his widow has been fronting the costs of keeping it alive while the other volunteers take up the load. Based on that, hard to say when or if the other operating systems will get a version.

I've been using GRT for several years, contributed a few powder models to the library as well. Haven't been on the discord server in a long time, glad to see its moving forward. Especially the addition of external ballistics and dope. Having an all in one program just makes sense.

Are there any updates regarding the next generation of GRT software?
You should ask Barney over on their Discord channel. Just don't be surprised if you're either ignored or berated for asking. I did that some weeks ago, never did get an answer but apparently asked when he was in a bad mood. I'm guessing... no time soon.

In all fairness, it's a huge task and I totally understand it will take as long as it does. There is lots of stuff available over there for the current release, files for lots of new stuff added all the time that you can download and import, powder models, etc.
