what kind of groups are you guys getting at 200 yards from you 17 HMR's? Im shooting an all factory savage accutriger and cant get anything better than 4 inch groups,shooting prone with bi pod)...just wondering what you guys were getting. please tell alittle about you gun when you give your group size.

That sounds about right, given wind. As a general rule, wind drift goes up with the SQUARE of the distance. E.g. if you have 1" of drift at 100 yards, then at twice,i.e. 2X) the distance, you'll have 2x2 times the drift. So your 200 yard wind drift will be roughly FOUR TIMES more than your 100 yard drift.
FWIW, Point Blank sofware calculates that, in a 5mph crosswind, a 17gr, 0.200 BC bullet will drift 1.02" at 100 yards and 4.51" at 200 yards!
You can often get the HMR to punch out 3 shots at 100 in 0.5" or less, but, typically, 5-shot groups will run 0.8" to 1.0". There are a lot of reasons, including bad run-out on the loaded ammo, and non-uniform bullets.
