Hello all, we’ve got a group buy going for getting full diameter mandrels ground for blueprinting and checking the straightness of actions. They will be ground between centers out of A-10 from Alan at Warner Tool Company.
They will be hardened and ground 12" long rods in .0005" increments from .701-.703" for the standard set. Accuracy on diam. and straightness will be .0001” or better. You will get much better results than with the bushing and rod method. The bolt body is full diameter. Bushings do not account for all the variations in between them. The idea here is a full diameter mandrel will find center of the entire inconsistent bore, bushings will find center between 2 points only. Rarely is an action bore straight, you cant account for that unless you use a full diameter mandrel. These rods take into account for the warpage of the action. You may find a .702 fits in the rear and a .703 fits in the front, but you have to use a .7015 to go through both due to the warpage of the action.
It’s ok with him if some want more or less size increments as long as we reach the 6 sets (30 bar minimum.) Tentative price for a set (5 bars) is $775 or $155 per bar.
What he needs is : Either one compiled order for everyone (compiled through me) OR: An order from each individual.
In either case, he will require written ( Email) order from all concerned along with a 50% deposit from all before even ordering stock. Valid credit card #'s from all, along with contact info for final billing and shipping.
He’s looking at from 5 to 8 extra bars, so varying each order is possible-- add or subtract from the 5 bar set if you only want 3 bars or if you want 8 bars, just let me know.
He’s Not apposed to making more sets, but 6 is the min.
Time line--- this needs to be confirmed and all arrangements made by 6/28/21 or he won't be able to run the job due to other upcoming work.
I am willing to do the whole order under my name and money then deal with everyone else after if needed.
I think this is a far superior method to bushings, it hurts a little to pay for but it is an investment in the quality of your product and business. Group buys are hard to put together and these would be far more expensive if not done in a group so I’d encourage you to get all sizes your interested in and take the opportunity at hand if you want any of them.
You can email and deal directly with Alan if you prefer but regardless please PM me on what you will be ordering as I’m spear heading the operation and need to make sure we reach the 6 set minimum.
