Groundhog Sniping just around the corner!

I can't wait either!! We don't have that sorta shooting here in Western Australia anymore but I love reading about it. Nomad47s adventures are great to read about!!!

Hey, Hillbillysniper you dont hang out in the Saltville area due you? Down on my little hilltop in nowhere SWVA they are building houses in my groundhog fields. Grandkids selling off the family farms!

You're not alone brother! Going to see if there are any out after work tonight, 60 degrees here in SW Michigan today :)

Had to do a little road trip today to a couple counties north of here and OMG.... the chucks were out EVERYWHERE!! :o About every hayfield had at least one or two out. :D WD

Got my first of the season this afternoon here in western Montana. .22 Ruger MarkIII Hunter at maybe 50 yds. Head shot thank goodness. Past experience has shown that .22 Long Rifle will not always kill on body shots. Rockchucks here can be tough, ornery little buggers. Never killed one with a pistol before but I didn't have a rifle in the truck (thought it was too early yet). I do now. ;D ;D ;D

They are out in forces in Indiana too. I'm a farmer so really hate to see those little things again and of course I'm to stinking busy to have some fun!! >:(

Hosted, some day you've just got to sit back and smell the roses . . . er that would be ground hog blood and guts. Give yourself a break!

ALO, Have you ever done any farming? He's probably working dark to dark right now. If he doesn't work he doesn't EAT! Those 'chucks will still be there in June. ;D ;D ;D

Yup... 'Just waiting for a little more snow to disappear and I'll be out looking for places to do a little snipin' too...

My wife and I are leaving Arizona tomorrow morning, planning on being in Ohio on Sunday. But the groundhog hunting won't get into full swing for a little while - we're moving into a "new to us" home. So there will be lots of furniture moving, "Honey, would you hang this picture here?", sidewalks to put in, zero turn mower to buy, etc - and most important, I want to build a reloading room in a corner of the detached garage. The wife can have the attached garage all to herself.

Roadkill61,

I'd love to mate. One day I'm gonna load up my 6x47L Imp and come to the USA and do a bit. Would be great fun!!! I've also gotta try get over eastern Australia and do a bit of bunny sniping with a few blokes aswell....

Bill,

Hope you don't have to wait to long to shoot mate. I'm hoping you keep up with you reports on here for us to read :)

Where I live in West Virginia we wait until after first cut, they're out in full force now but if you kill a mama with babies then 4 or 6 will die in the hole, some folks are ok with that, just not me. Besides after first cut then you have more targets with the biddies out and still a lot of them survive, gotta leave some seed.

Dave T... where bouts are you in WV??? I'm a WV guy myself.

Can't wait til the rain quits and the pasture poodles have their young. Still gotta do my load development on the 22BR and the 6SLR. Also waiting for my custom 204 Ruger upper to come in so I will be spending some time in the reloading room.

I saw eight on patrol today. No shots though, they were way too skittish. They went down their holes & stayed there if spooked. At least we have some locations staked out. ;)
