ground hogs

given a bullet that hits a hog in chest area and dups all is energy there I assum it will most likely kill said hog.am I right on this.i saw that a 17 cal. with a 25 grain bullet that hit a hog at say 350 yards will kill it.the bulldoes not come out but dups all the energy on the target.

The all time favorite cartridge for deer poachers is a 22 rim fire. Head shots.

As a kid I used to kill a bunch of ground hogs with a 22 lr with head shots. Usually would find a hole in the winter. I would then go set up about 50 yards or so away with some sort of blind made from brush or hay bales etc. and then in the early spring would watch to see when the young ones started to come out. I would lay behind the blind hidden until a young one presented a good head shot angle and pop it. I then took it home to eat. The young ones were very tinder and not covered with fat. Mom baked them with potatoes and carrots and onion.

I have killed said hog and said hog behind original said hog(with what’s left of bullet) with explosive 22 caliber bullets, numerous times. Mostly with a 220 swift. No prisoners taken with the Swift!
