Gross length cast trimming...

For those folks that are forming unique cases from parent brass, there is often a "gross" excess length of neck that needs to be trimmed off. Obviously, a final trim to length would be done using any number of case trimmers available on the market.

However before that, as opposed to say a hack saw blade, I am curious what folks have found useful for trimming off excessive brass?

Thanks

Cheap chop saw from Harbor Freight is the default method for the majority of us.

You might have to overhaul it before you use it but it'll get the job done. ;)
RCBS power case trimmer or the manual unit works well. Have used both with no issues.
Remember to measure YOUR chamber length BEFORE you trim. May not have to.

The one that's only 30 bucks is chopping thousands of cases all over the US problem free. They're just the ticket for 300 BLK and my American 30. No overhaul necessary.

Squirrel Daddy jigs and the cutter are a match made in heaven.

That little saw and a cheap jig off of Amazon work great. Making .300 BLK cases from .223/ 5.56 is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. I mounted mine to a board with a hole in it so chopped cases fall into a bucket. I probably have 1500 cases in boxes under my work bench. The saw still has the original blade.
