green lite laser to get wind flags?

XXPER

A friend shot the Hunter Nationals in St Louis last week and said some shooters used green lite lasers to set their flags and wind probes. Has anyone used a laser for this and does it work. If so where did you get you laser and approximate cost.

Thanks xxper

Any cheap level at the hardware store will work fine. I Have a laser in a 6" level in my tools. Didn't cost much at all. It' red and I've used it for that type work before but get out very far and it's hard to find. Solution : wear a white shirt.

The green lasers are not eye safe.

With that said, I have one and it does have multiple uses.

If I had it to do over, I would get a laser with windage and elevation adjustments so that the beam could be trued to the bore, etc.

I have one (red) and I mounted a 6x scope on it so I could line up the target and use the laser to align my flags. Its clamped in a surverys base that I sit on the bench and use the leveling screws to line up the target in the scope. It works great, although my laser isnt very powerful, so at 200yd at full sun can be difficult. I'm wanting to replace the laser with a more powerful one.

I wonder how they look on a target at 600 or 1000yds. Probably distracting to other shooters. Should be a good learning/practice tool where one could watch and call shots as another fires. It wouldn't have to be a tight dot. A 5" dot centers nice on a 6" reference target.
