Grease

Got a couple of questions about the grease:
1. Can barrel thread grease be used as the bolt grease behind the bolt lug?
2. If not, is this cooper based anti seize lub can be used as the barrel thread grease?

Thanks in advance.

For the lugs use whatever you have laying around short of using oil. It gets wiped pretty clean as soon as you start cycling the bolt. For thread lube I waffle back and forth between anti-seize and just a good quality grease. 30 years ago a friend that worked for an airlines gave me a quart of FAA approved grease. That's been on my bench ever since. I've had two barrels where the threads seized. That was back when I fitted threads tight. Now a days I fit them looser with a better finish and use a good grease. What I've seen of anti-seize is it dries out and when my customers change barrels they don't clean the threads of either the barrel or the action leaving the dried up compound.

We, the shooters, pay a lot for packaging and advertising of products that are readily available across the counter. YMMV

Off to the Tackdriver.

Was on the shelf for my motorcycles.

Just about NGIL-2 is fine. You don't need much.

Anti-sieze is for higher temperatures on static joints. (Temperatures over 350°F) It can be used elsewhere, but not on dynamic moving surfaces like bolt lugs. It is perfectly adequate for barrel threads, just overkill and not necessary IMHO. I do use it on muzzle brakes as they can get hot. I just hate the mess it makes.
