Gre-Tan or GA Precision?

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if any body had any insight to whether or not Gre-Tan's truing service for a Remington 700 was worth the money or if GA Precision is a better choice as they can true my action and install a barrel for around $700.

Thanks everyone

Greg does superb work and you won't find anyone who does better. Also.....he makes the truing fixtures that a lot of other riflebuilders use.

If I didnt build my own guns, I would go with Greg. We use his tooling and my boss has spoken with Greg many times and is impressed with his work. You wont be sorry.

Thanks, but would a complete truing job from Gre-Tan impede the function of a 700 action due to the tighter tolerences?

Gregs as good as it gets and will take the time to discuss what you need him to do.
Nothing against GA precision, I just never used them for doing my bolt work...

+1 on Greg's work. He is as good as ANYONE in the country. He has built all of Regan Green's guns and that speaks for itself.

I'll also vouch for Greg Tannel's work; I can't speak for GA Precision. Greg does quality work, good turn around time and is pleasant to deal with.

I hear GAP is the holy grail among the tac guys. I choose Greg Tannel to do a complete job on my Rem700 and just finished breaking the barrel in. I had Greg completely work my bolt with new pin, springs bushed pin and bolt sleeved. I then sent him a new Krieger barrel for a chamber job.

I was truely happy with Greg. I felt bad everytime I called him because he took the time to explain things in great detail and I knew I was taking him from the machines. after I recieved my rifle Greg answered additional questions by email the same day!

I went with a 300WM Lapua spec reamer 337nk and loads I just threw together for barrel break-in are bug-holes.

If you want a complete "sniper-rifle" go with GA they have a cult following and the resale is fantastic.

On the other hand Greg has gone through one action and two consecutive Tennessee State Long Range championships later I kind of like it. I have a couple sets of custom dies and about five bolt bushing mods also.

GAP has great turn around times and very good work. The one rifle I have built by GAP is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. I don't think you would go wrong with either choice.
