Gray Haired Brigade

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday.

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies."
You youngsters have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.
This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2016 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2016 we're going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Eric Holder.
It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom.
We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.
So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance,
Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Gray-Haired Brigade."

Can you feel the ground shaking???
It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.
You and I are Members,

Footnote:
This is spot on, and I am another Gray-Haired Geezer signing on.
I will circulate this to other Gray-Haired Geezers all over this once great county.

Tia,

I only wish you were right. Youd figure there woulda been a stampede to the last presidential election but there wasnt. The majority that voted dont work, pay taxes, or own anything.

When you rob from Peter to give to Paul you can always depend on the support of Paul.

I am with Don and wont give up ever. I will spread the word as much as I can and if someone starts complaining move onto the next.

Baby Boomers are probably the generation that raised the entitlement generation that have zero work ethics and allowed them to be indoctrinated.. Maybe a bit more time spent with the children hunting some white tail and less time on the net worth we would have a generation with values.. I look at my two young children and feel I'm the only chance they have at getting a honest understanding..

I am a "Political Junkie" at least as much as I am a "Reloading / Shooting Junkie".. I watch a lot of Politics, listen to it on the radio and wade thru it on YouTube. This country has 2 distinct groups of people, 1.) Stupid and 2.) Single-Issue.. Let me explain: The first one "Stupid" lays mainly in the "Democrat / Liberal" camp. Enough said about those "people".. The problem comes with the 2nd group: The "Selfish / Single-Issue" Conservatives! SAY WHAT!!!! That's right, CONSERVATIVES who are SINGLE-ISSUE VOTERS. We had "John McCain" the first time a round. Definitely the definition of a R.I.N.O.>>not the BEST candidate by any stretch! But it was either him or our present "leader" (very tongue-n-cheek)... So because he was NOT conservative enough, they stayed home to the tune of over 3 million voters. Which effectively handed the election over to Obama! Then here comes Mitt Romney. A far more conservative candidate than John "Sugar Cane" McCain BUT his flaw as he is a Mormon! So now the choice becomes a "pretty" real conservative or an avowed socialist! So what do the "Single-Issue" conservatives do? They stayed home to the tune of 5 THAT'S RIGHT 5 MILLION voters!

Now ask yourself this question: WHO is more "stupid", the ones who refuse to see what is happening to our country or the ones who refuse to do anything about it because of some "issue" they have that they don't like, no matter how well he / she "fits the bill" otherwise!!

100% on board with "shootsdots". I am 68 years old and have voted in every election since I have been eligible to vote. More than a few times I have held my nose and voted for the lesser of the evils but always for the more conservative candidate.

Staying at home to protest a less than perfect candidate is the major reason we have the situation we have now and are most likely will be out numbered by the "takers" in 2016.

Unfortunately many of the current conservatives are tepid on the second amendment but far better than the main stream liberals.

Respectfully,
T W Hudson

Agree with most of what's been said. I think a lot of blue collar conservative voters, after seeing their companies and jobs shipped overseas by the free traders on both sides of the aisle, have given up on voting.

Spot on, Except I feel Romney didn't stir the base either, It was hard to differentiate Obamacare from Romney care and liberal/Rino agenda.. Republican establishment is in your number one category in my opinion, Rubio and Perry are getting beat up with immigration because believe it or not, their base isn't for giving over their country over to illegals.. They are in the opinion they need to pander to the left who won't vote for them anyway and leave their conservative base hanging.. Dumb

Personally I think both horses in the race (who ever they are) are owned by the same stable.
I'm not even sure they count the votes anymore. Here in Ohio last election some voting machines were programed to count votes only for "Bo" (Cleveland area). Just a dumb country boy's opinion.

It's amazing to reflect on the rate of deterioration over the last six years. Of course the RINOs did a good job of setting this up under Bush who said he warned Congress that a financial crisis was brewing yet collectively they did nothing. And we invade a country because they might possess weapons of mass destruction; what about the other fifty who do. Both parties cater to special interests rather than doing what is right; such as with catering to illegals. Old geezers will get out to vote and also lead protection of second amendment rights.

With age, comes experience in life. This experience helps us "old geezers" to recognize some of the BS and sugar coating presented to us, as we have "been there, done that". Experience definitely makes it easier to make an informed decision. Many of the youth in this county don't realize the wisdom that comes only with age.

It has always been the mission of politicians to buy VOTES. The Dems figured it out. There are now more people with their hand out to the Government, than contributing members of society. Votes paid for and counted.

That, they did ;) And the Republicans figured out a way to ship U.S. jobs to other countries, thereby driving up the unemployment rate, and the need for millions to rely heavily on unemployment benefits >:(

BS, The over regulation happy liberals use the EPA and IRS to do it's bidding.. Your company doesn't fund the dems, here comes some more regulation.. Coal restrictions will force energy prices up and business out, but you probably assume that is lead by republicans.. Gotta tax those 1% to keep them here also.. lol

Seems to me that our country was doing OK when, 'Brother Bill' left office. We had, (heaven forbid) a surplus of money. Then along comes Georgie and gives us all a $600 check for doing nothing! Talk about buying votes!!

The Times itself reported in 1999 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were under pressure from the Clinton administration to increase lending to minorities and low-income home buyers--a policy that necessarily entailed higher risks. Can there really be a question, other than in the fevered imagination of the Times, where the push to reduce lending standards and boost home ownership came from?

A housing crisis didn't start under the Bush administration, Not that Bush was any better then the big spending liberals..

Ray

Ray, your exactly correct on both the housing crash, and EPA&OSHA over regulation, add to that the IRS, and Union demands for higher and higher wages and that is precisely why jobs are being driven to other countries! By the way when the Clinton administration was being threated with a law suit by A.C.O.R.N about easing lending restrictions from Freddie&Fannie the lawyer of record for the suit was none other than ! Wait for it! Barrack Hussein Obama!
