Got the bug to put a BR together- which?

I'm just getting into 200 yard score shooting, and have been shooting in the 235-243 range with a Savage Model 11 w/Pac-nor 22-250 barrel. It shoots well; better than I do. A lot of the points I drop are my fault, although I do get a "what the heck happened that time!?" flyer once in a while..

I'm considering screwing a 6BR or a 30BR barrel on it, and see what that will do. Mainly for the challenge of something new, as with some work and practice I can probably do better with the 22-250. I do feel that less felt recoil would help me a somewhat, as I do catch myself jerking the trigger, usually when I drop a point...)

My questions:

How would you compare recoil between a 22-250, a 6BR and a 30BR?

Besides Robinett bullets, who makes good bullets for a 30BR?

Looks like a 30BR might be the ticket. We don't think you can easily beat Robinett's bullets, but other 30BR bullet-makers include:

Ronnie Cheek,118) - www.cheekbullets.com
Guy Chism,30 Cal. 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, and 150gr Flat Base) - http://www.benchrest.com/chism/
Jef Fowler - http://benchrest.com/fowler
Brady Knight - http://www.benchrest.com/knight/
Ed Watson,no web site)

These guys are all great bullet-makers.

Thanks for the reply.

I want to try the Robinett bullets, its just that the 1000 piece bullet minimuim quantity would take me 3 years to shoot at my present rate of use, and would stretch the budget pretty hard. Does anyone sell them in smaller quantities?

The 6BR factory ammo looks like a great way to start also, if I would go with a 6BR. Decisions, decisions.

FYI,

Lapua makes loaded ammo in 90gr boat-tail and 77gr flatbase also. Yes it's pricey, but as one reader noted, once you subtract the value of the brass, powder, primer, and bullet, about $0.75), the loaded ammo is a good way to get started. Grafs.com has the 77s and 90s. We are selling the 105gr loaded ammo for $50/40 rounds, delivered to the 48 states) until it's gone. It may be months before more is available.
