What smith in Iowa did we use.? It's always nice to have options. Thanks.

EGA Gunworks LLC - Rebarreling Service/Sales & Service/Reloading - Mike Hartman, owner - 319-750-2907 - EGAGUNWORKS@YAHOO.COM - Winfield, IA

He does a lot of rebarreling work from what I could tell, especially the wildcat stuff. He's more into Remington 700 actions/builds and wildcat reloading, etc. but handled my Savage w/o any problems. Super nice guy. Small shop open every other week, drives truck every other week.

Mike Hartman. Great smith. Has built several rifles for me over the past three years. Everyone a shooter. Easy to work with and timely. Scott

That's a beautiful rifle! What bullet are you thinking of starting with?

Well, since I got a great deal on 500 Sierra 107 gr matchking moly bullets for $100.00, I think I better start there. ;)

Awsome looking gun. I am machineing a Shilen 1-8 Match blank for my 243 build as well. I to am using a thumbhole stock. I called tubb precision to see if a 8 twist would stabalise 115 g dtac Bullets. He felt it was sufficant so I ordered 500. I hope they are here soon its been 3 weeks . I figure gun will be ready to break in a month from know. Everyone is so backed up when the bullets come they come. I will see how she shoots this summer I hope!

Mike did a couple rifles for me. Terrible service it took almost a week and a half to get my guns back and my 243 shot a 2.5 inch group at 900yards the other day. That's almost 3 inches! Scott ,I thought Mike was our little secret. Word gets out my builds could take up to 2or maybe even 3 weeks. Scott B and Mike H have both been very good to me both good guys that love to shoot and talk about it. Mike Wilson TN

I finally got out this last w/e and put 20 rounds of some factory ammo I had down range with her mainly to get the scope somewhat zeroed and get the rifle broke in. I need to get my reloading area set up and get some really good ammo rolled up for her to figure out what she's really going to like the best. The results this w/e looked promising anyway. Here's a 100 yard 5 shot group with some factory 75 gr HP's, and of course the 5th shot is the one that really opened up the group. ::) I think the first 4 shots could have been covered up with a dime. :)

The last upgrade I'm going to do is the trigger. I just ordered a Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger for her from Midway and will hopefully have a nice 4-5 oz trigger for it now. I'll just have to get used to it as I've never had such a light trigger pull on a gun but I'm sure it will help. I hope to get my first 50-60 test rounds fired thru her this weekend. Wish me luck!

Very nice rifle! Looks great! What loads do you plan on testing out first? That 8 twist will shoot those heavier match bullets great.

Currently testing some IMR 4350 loads. Tested 39.6 gr and 40.0 gr today. Testing 40.4 gr tomorrow and may go up to 40.8 (max according to my book) before it's said and done. I'm using moly coated 107 gr Sierra MatchKings.

I posted this pic in the reloading forum also but here was a nice group @ 100 yds using 40.0 gr with my trimmed bullets. The first 4 shots were in about .275" group. :)

I did get to test some @ 40.8 gr of IMR 4350 and got my best group so far @ under .4" I have some loaded @ 41.2 gr to try next. I may wait til I put the new trigger on her and I may see about getting the rifle bedded this week as well. I have a few pics in the reloading forum.
