Got a new stock for my 6.5x47, how loose should the mag box be?

Hi All,
bit of a general question. I just fitted a B&C aliminium bedding block stock to my 6.5x47L, built on a trued Rem 700 SA. All fit together ok, but the internal mag box is loose. It has 3mm to 4mm movement up and down, with the action screws tight. Original rifle was a ADL, but purchased a BDL mag box and spring, Remington BDL trigger guard/ floor plate. So I don't have anything to compare with, its my first Rem 700.
I don't think it should be so loose, and if it should fit a little better, how do I correct it? Do I need the trigger guard/ floor plate recess, in the stock, milled out by 2 or 3mm (I wouldn't think it need to be sandwiched in tight)? Or do I carefully file down, the floor plate where contacts the bottom of the aliminium bedding block? (If I did this, I'm a little concerned the floor plate/ trigger guard will be weakened) Or something else?
cheers

A little clearance is needed, as too tight can/will lead to feeding problems. I wouldn't worry about it.

The earlier mag boxes had a tab with a screw that attached it to the action. The bean counters must have had a say in eliminating it.......
