Got a new design in the works.

This will be a very interesting piece once complete.
Took delivery of my Curly maple, Padauk and African mahogany from Pa last week.
By far the best figured maple I’ve ever seen.

Black and green epoxy inlays on curly and mahogany, finishing will be black to bring out the figure and mint green dye.

This is one side cut, will keep track of progress with pictures.

Looks cool
See about using some fine 24K gold flake in there ;)
I have one stock painted in Midnight Sapphire with gold flake
pics don't do it justice without the proper lighting so its hard to convey online
because it just looks like a deep rich dark blue online
the gold is very subtle, don't take much, but, makes it pop that extra little bit

That looks very good, been tossing around ideas since thinking about the inlays.
I have ordered some pigments and will play around with several different shades of that. I definitely want the figure in this wood to show its remarkable grains.
Here’s some red and silver been tossing around with also.
I think it will all come together..

Can you make your own specific designs with the inletted inlay?
Such as Flames or Lightning bolts? Letters etc? then fill in with the epoxy?

Let me start by saying awesome work. And for the rest of us I'll say this that are interested in building a stock. I purchased a laminated blank from Richards. The stock was a blank with no inletting and needs final sanding. I have routers a mill and lathe. Plus the knowledge to make a custom stock. I have purchased tooling and other things to build the stock. With all that said I will be well over the price of one of these and countless hours of design. I will be on cloud 9 when I finish. Thanks for showing us your creativity . Threads like this are what drive us.
