Goofy Gun Slang and Expressions

257 ack I was born in Johnson City, but I always liked Jonesborough more, it was where Washington county school board offices were, and I could get in way more mischief there.
I spent some time there just this Last Saturday. Christmas on Main Steet of in Jonesborough until it got to crowded for this old guy then into JC for supper with my best girl

my trigger words are Pill's, and AT RANGE Meaning at a further distance...but never given at WHAT range they mean.. 300yds or 1300yards???

It's a contraction of you inz or more commonly youinz.
It's a Pennsylvania thing.

from visatravellers . com:
Yinz - the Western PA way of saying “you all”
Yinzer – the people of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas
One commonly used around my neck of the woods is “mup-ears” is used to describe somebody from Pittsburgh or surrounding area,
Meaning, when you ask somebody where they are from in hunting season and you get the reply, I am “mup-ear”( up here) from Picksburg

Yes, in American English, a period typically goes inside the quotation marks when it is at the end of a quoted sentence; meaning if a quote ends a sentence, the period is placed within the closing quotation marks.

Probably the biggest pet peeve of mine in the gun industry is the nomenclature of named calibers as compared to their true calibers.

For instance 357 magnum is true to its caliber but 38 special is grossly exaggerated when it really is 357-358. Why couldn’t they just keep it at 357 (or 358) or even round it up to 36 special? Same with 38 super when it really is 356 … couldn’t they have named it 356 super or 36 super? Another example … 44 magnum/special are overrated as they really are 429 … so why not 43 magnum/special which would have been much more honest and true to its caliber?

Or 300 win mag … 300 blackout … 300 PRC … etc etc when they really are 308 … why not use either 308 xxxxx or simply round up/down to 30 or 31 xxxxx?

Yes I know, the person/company that develop a new caliber gets to name them anyhow they desire to which would have been fine with me as long as they stay pretty close to or is true to their actual calibers. I am sure a lot of named calibers derivated from their true calibers just purely for marketing purpose which in my honest opinion is being misleading. Not to mention it has caused quite some confusions among many less suspecting shooters.

Of course, those existing calibers that are exaggerated from their true calibers will always keep their names, but I wish SAMMI would mandate that all future new calibers be named to their true caliber if named to the thousandth or rounded up/down no more than a hundredth if named to the hundredth.

I am sure some of you will disagree and won’t care a bit at all. This is just my biggest gripe with gun “expressions”, that’s all.
