Goofy Gun Slang and Expressions

I dont get it. Why cant people come up with stuff thats more believable. Like “I stayed out too late with the boys the other night and came home drunk. (that sounds kind of Homosapien like). Boy the wife was PISSED. And I woke up to her taking my gun apart. Can ya help me out?”

No way will I be out hanging with men if I have a wife at home or could find some hottie.

The part was "in tac" or "in tact". Uhm, "tac" isn't even a word. Intact, maybe? Wearing a saddle and bridle? Turning your boat in relation to the wind?
Loading powder "over" bullets. That just makes a mess.
Using "bore" to mean "groove diameter". Especially with the mythical German barrel Gew 88 having a .318" "bore". Not in a Germany on Planet Earth.
"Loupy", "Winnie", Remmy" etc. I'm not in Kindergarten.

Add in "at the end of the day" , "jaw dropping" and "having said that". Useless overworked phrases in the same ilk as the words awesome, chilling, concerning.
I "effin" hate that "Winnie" and "Annie" stuff..nope, not ever going to use those. I see guys on the CMP forum talking about another idiotic "stupidism"; "Racker" (which is supposed to be "Rack Grade". What about "Servicers and "Fielders"?

As soon as they’d leave we would laugh or arses off. They were the butt of many jokes for years, LOL. The guys that were honest and just said “hey I got in over my head, can you put this out back together for me” most of the time we would just put back together for free because they were so embarrassed to even bring the gun in. But but give us a total BS lie and the the regular shop rate and minimum charges went out the window, LOL

Referring to your competition firearm as a "weapon". It will rarely if ever be used as a weapon. Macho much? Also, it's way too vague. There's more chance that the car you're driving will be used as a weapon, so you'd be more accurate announcing that you'll be driving your weapon to the movies on Saturday night.

Interestingly, I think of my rifle as a tennis racquet and the rounds as one use tennis balls. Others might think of their rifle as a do all golf club.

I've been laughing my butt off at all of these replies. Along the same line are those who make excruciatingly long rambling posts full of random spelling and capitalizations, inconsistent punctuation (commas. periods or just old ...) and spacing along with manic 'hahaha' and other wandering content that just makes my poor old head spin.
I made the decision to never read posts like that.
Ever.
I noticed a dramatic improvement in my quality of life.

"Hornaday" seems to be another popular one too, lol.
I have had Hornady “corrected” to Hornaday many times in the past, and it struck me that I knew that name from HS History class.
I googled it and found the origins as well back then, so it really doesn’t bother me too much.

I have been to the CMP South and North Stores many times, and Garand Collector’s Conventions; and yes, you will hear all sorts of mutations to refer to one of my favorite Rifles.
We just go with the flow because “Garandese” has many dialects just like my Northern vs my Southern Brothers.;)

A couple of my pet peeves have been mentioned. Weapon. Hornaday.

Same guys who say "Hornaday" will also say "Mondy, Tewsdy, WInsdy."

I had a girlfriend years ago with the last name Leupold. She and her entire family pronounced it "Lee-a-pold."

Surprised no one mentioned "heads" yet a.k.a. tips or pills.
