Goodyear Australia sacks employee for being a Sporting Shooter1

Just sharing a story from across the pond.

Goodyear Australia sacked employee David Waters for being a Sporting Shooter.

The youtube link shows the hysteria our Police and media have been able to drum up.

Please share where you see appropriate.

Somehow I don't think Goodyear Australia is going to come out of this too well... >:(

As an Aussie, they will definitely lose my custom over this.

I wonder how the nascar fans will take this?
Me personally? I find Goodyear tires to generally suck. Haven't bought any in many years.

I asked Goodyear corporate to explain their actions. It only takes a couple minutes to do. Here is the link...

Did any of you actually think they would have a reply , or even give you enough time to ask a CEO or other EXEC a question?
This is typical corporate policy these days.
Set up a pile of links that go nowhere.

Stinkitup,

Thank you for posting! Very interesting dissertation by David's lawyer.

Even here in he USA, given today's behavior of leftist politicians, school administrators, academia, college kids, etc., what happened to David could easily happen here as well. (I did not mention the press or journalists, as calling them leftists would be redundant.)

Just my 2¢

Nando

On a similar vein, years back Ruger was denying health benefits to employees that rode motorcycles. Being a life long motorcyclist I stopped even considering the purchase of a Ruger product. It's amazing how incredibly stupid corporate execs can be. The crossover between guns and adult motorcyclists is very very high.

I hope all shooters read this. I have called my tire shop and told them I will no longer be buying anything made by goodyear or Dunlop. I also said that if they stock any goodyears I would take my business elsewhere. I am also e-mailing nascar and will not allow any program that even shows any goodyear ads be on my tv!!

I wrote Goodyear...and since I was going to buy winter tires today, I think i will buy something other than a Goodyear product.

snert, I went through this last year. I really researched them for my truck (Tacoma 4 x 4), I wasn't happy with Michelin or Brigestone! On a Toyota forum everyone was raving about "Cooper AT/3's".

I bought a set, Best tires I have ever owned take a look at them, you won't be sorry.

Thanks for the support everyone. I know here we are doing the same. They will have received similar but they need to know its not just Aussies standing up for each other.

Ryan

Never cared for Goodyear products anyhow, another reason to justify not buying them.

What do you with 365 used condoms? Make them into a tire and call it a Goodyear.

sorry if I offended anyone with that, but I'm kinda known to offend once in awhile.

I'm buying Michelin. Top rated by consumer reports. By the way. When did tires go up to $200 + each?? I musta been sleeping!

WOW, I am appalled.

Spookmagnet tanks for posting the link to Goodyear. I have been a Goodyear customer for the last 45 years of my life. Just last month I bought four Good Year tires for my son's Escape. I will copy the invoice and send it along with an email stating that if David Waters is not reinstated with full apologies, these tires will be my and my family's last set of Goodyear tires.

Kindest regards,

Joe

PS With 22k miles on my new Honda Pilot it won't be long before I will be buying new tires.

Did they fire him for being a sporting shooter? After many years it seems of competition shooting then suddenly fired after
Or did they fire him for enviting then meeting someone who brought a rifle onto company property?

I agree that it is unfortunate that he found himself in this situation.
But a firearm seems to have been brought onto company property.
Unfortunately my employer would probably do the same

Tim,
I believe you're overlooking the fact that someone else brought the rifle on the property (not company property by the way) without his knowledge or consent. If that were to happen to you and you told that to a lawyer, he would be smiling from ear to ear. $$$$$$ $$$$$ reflections in his eyes.

I don't know of any country where one person can be held responsible for another person's actions without being complicit.

Joe

P.S. I'm not a lawyer. This is not to be construed as legal advice.

I've watched the video thru a couple times. Evidently Goodyear leased the parking area for its employees.
This gentleman envited the lady there and had met with her and a rifle was brought into the open for other employees to see and call the police.

Like I said unfortunate situation for sure.
Was he fired simply because he is a sporting shooter? Idk
