good starter .243 loads

I just got a used Savage 110 in .243 win and am looking at starting to reload for it. it is totally stock with a pencil barrel i am going to be using it for target/varmint, mostly paper and the occasional coyote/ prairie dog. i have Winchester cases for it, and i have Varget, XBR8208, left over from my AR I got rid of and H4350 from my 30-06. now i am not opposed to getting other powders if they work better either so any thought on bullet powder configs would help greatly.

Varget or H4350 should work fine in your 243 however I prefer IMR 4350 for all my 243 reloads.

Varget works better with lighter bullets 70 grain and under whereas 4350 will work better with medium (80 grain) to heavier (90 and above) weight bullets.

My two favorite loads are:

40.0 grains of IMR 4350 - 85 grain Sierra BTHP - good general purpose bullet for predators and small deer
41.0 grains of IMR 4350 - 90 grain Nosler BT - flat shooting bullet for deer size game - can use for predators also

The following is a list of other bullets I've tried and can highly recommend:

The Sierra 80 grain Blitz bullet is an outstanding bullet at varmints / predators - very accurate - flat shooting - deadly - economical.
The Sierra 100 ProHunter for deer. Accurate - economical - deadly .

(I don't have a lot of experience using the 243 on deer but those bullets listed above for deer have worked for me and a few fellow shooters.)

I like Federal 210 Match Primers

The 243 is one of my favorite calibers - mild recoil - easy to load - accurate - econonmical to shoot. I've been shooting it for 40+ years mostly on varmints and predator and paper.

We've been running 37.0 Varget behind a 75 grain V-max in a Win case. It ain't fast, but it does a number on ground squirrels out to 300 yards (the furthest we can shoot on the ranch).

I have only shot one group with the rifle, and it came in at 1/2" (100 yards). I'm sure a little tuning would help, but it is my dad's rifle and he doesn't need any more accuracy than what he has. Everything that lines up in the crosshairs vaporizes.

I have a model 700 remington and have always had great results with the 87gr hornadys. I've shot the fbsp, bthp and vmax with imr4831 and imr4350, great accuracy and velocity my favorite for varmints and target are the bthp.
