Good safety glasses for shooting

I currently shoot benchrest and I'm looking for a quality pair of shooting safety glasses. Any recommendations? I'd rather spend a little more money to get something nice.

Thanks,
Joe

ESS has shooting glasses and goggles that are rated as ballistic eye protection per military standards. The Crossbow Suppressors have a very thin temple piece that allows ear pro to better seal and does not create pressure points. Look for Nomad on snipershide.com, he will pm/email a promo code for 40% off.

ESS glasses are awesome, but I wish they made them with clear lenses. I have the 5b model with gray lenses and they're a little dark unless it's full on sunny type of conditions. Optical clarity is top notch (in my opinion of course).

I was just doing some research on glasses last week on glasses with clear lenses, and found nothing but good reviews on these (plus they come with multiple lenses) : http://www.opticsplanet.com/revision-stingerhawk-essential-shooting-glasses.html

With that said my ESS's fit so perfect with Howard Leight mufffs, it's hard to look past them. The only reason I was looking further was for open sight shooting in the field. The ESS 5b are just a touch too dark when the target is in the shadows.

Oakley M frame safety glasses here. I run the regular sun glasses on the bright days, the persimmon (orange) on the darker cloudy days. Or clear lenses on days where the other two are no good.

Neither the Randolp Engineering, nor the Decot are safety glasses. They may be called "shooting glasses", but neither of them are safety glasses. They may enhance your shooting experience by, for example, the lens color making clay birds stand out. For shooting glasses to be safety glasses they must meet certain national and international standards: U.S. MIL SPEC MIL-PRF-31013 (clause 3.5.1.1), ANSI Z87.1-2010, U.S. OSHA, CE EN166 FTKN.

Most shooting glasses sit too high and away from the eyes to protect them from most threats. Also, as we've seen, way too often, the shrapnel and blast that accompanies a KABOOM. Normal industrial safety glasses will provide protection from the rather low velocity shrapnel found in manufacturing. I, myself, would much prefer the protection offered by lenses and frames that provide ballistic protection.

My Randolph shooting glasses have prescription Trivex lenses and are ANSI Z87.1 rated. With the adjustable bridge, they actually sit high enough to look through the center of them as I shoot prone. I had a pair of the ESS glasses that everyone raves about and I looked right over the top of them as I shot. Even if my Randolph's weren't safety glasses, which they are, I would prefer something between my eyes and the explosion instead of nothing, which is what you get when you are looking over the top of your el cheapo safety glasses.

Uvex Genesis are available in a clear lens:

The above link refers to all Genesis models being ANSI Z87.1-2010, CSA Z94.3 and Mil-Vo certified and Made in USA.
