I hit a spot Friday night after getting a call and popped a female amongst the cows.
Saturday after work I went back and popped another in the cows again.
Crashed at the ranch and Sunday morning my pal & I picked up an Army officer he invited that lives down in Co Springs who drove all the way up to our areas.
We hit a ranch spot and we set up about 60 yards apart with him between us on a steep hill side. 5 min into the set and M proceeded to drop a coyote w/a bark from his AR15,60g vmax load.
Its partner proceed to howl about 300 yards out in the gully looking for it, it never came into sight.
My pal was doing the calling and kept it a going.
I saw another one coming in about 900 yards out on a decent trot.
It made many stops to inspect the area from afar, but it kept coming in. Finally made it down the trail side across from us and about 180 yds out it slammed to a stop and turn broad side, yup hit the scent trail. I barked & it looked at me so my 6x6.8 shwwoooshed a 55g varmageddon bullet into it and it dropped on the spot.
A nice morning double within 20 min.
We ended up with 4 Sunday. It warmed up and the dogs stopped coming in & the ones we did see just wanted to be left alone mousing instead of coming into the calling.
We had 3 runners from the road crossing in front of us at full speed.
We dropped M off just about sunset and headed out our selves.
My pal dropped me off at the ranch I was parked at & picked up the 3 coyotes he had shot the prior day.
I said Im going to walk over to the hillside over some bottom land where I has already shot the 2 above.
Its 615 pm I see 2 coyote sitting next to a wind break & was sure they heard me.
I set up in my spot as they took off & about 5 min later I see 3 coyotes come running out of the creek bottom and head over to a cow pile.
I dropped 1 next to the cow, the others split since they stopped at the fence line and were mousing.
15 min later I spot one about 275 yards out just mousing and see it aint a going to even come my way. So I follow it w/the D740 scope and when it turns broadside I shhwwisshed a 55g vmax from the AR and it drops on the spot.
I take pics & one home in the freezer. The ol guy at 275 yards looked good until I flip it over and 1 side is nothing but mange.
