Good night 20-222

Hey guys its been a while since i had the chance to shoot or post anything. Just been so busy. Anyhow i took my 788 20-222 out for a quick spin on the 300 plates i made. Havent shot the rifle in months. Took it out dialed 1.5 moa from 100yrd sight in and shot 1” or so clusters on the plates like nothing. Almost boring. 2” round plate @ 300 and a little kid could get bored shooting it everytime. Dont i start packing up and a chuck pops out about 200 yards. Well doesn’t that just make the day? Love every minute of this 20 cal. Cheers to the 20’s and the great guys that shoot em.

That’s outstanding! One of my 2 favorite 20 calibers. Have 2 of them and both shoot very accurately. Just a simple neck down and fire away!

20 VT with 40 VMax rules the roost in my PD arsenal....my go to.

Straight 222 with 50 TNT's is a close 2nd.

Adding a 20 VT .100 Short to shoot 32's for 2025 fall PD shoot.

Ive only shot 32’s w h4198 so far. The little 32’s have proven to be very accurate. Id like to try some others but i havent had time. Heck Im still shooting fireform loads i had a pile of 222 brass

I had opportunity to use 32's in my VT on my last trip PDn.

I forgot to replenish my ammo box and ran out of VTs and 222s late PM.

My shooting partner loaned me 150 VTs loaded with 32 VMs to keep going.

They shot great, I couldn't tell the difference between the 32s and my 40s for windage or impact damage out to 200-250.

Surprisingly they shot to same POI....well at least the same PD POI.

My 20-222 loves H322 and the Berger 40 grainers at 3680. I'm probably a full grain off max but it shoots the load I'm using so well I hate to mess with it only to gain another maybe 100-125 fps.

I can’t get off the 32 with a stiff charge of H4198. Speeds and accuracy that again make me question why I just bought another 204.

I've got other bullets to try, and plenty of different powders, but this load simply works. I'll prolly wear my barrel out before I get around to trying something different. jd

Hey 20 tac im shooting 20.5 grs h4198 w a 32gr. Velocity averaged 3850 fps w this 26” 11tw krieger. I have not shot my 204’s since

Hey pmg thanks dude. And yes i have a sweet spot for the 788. This one shoots. The stock i have a is a mcmillan hunter class br stock. Ill dig a pic out for ya.

For many years, a lot of us have known that the 222 was simply the best cartridge in it's "category" for sweet shooting, easy loading, incredible accuracy, amazing case life, works with a wide range of powders --- and now we're finding that it is lovable as a .20 cal. --
