I have a Mitutoyo 500-196-30 that is outstanding but I also have the VINCA DCLA-0605 below which is almost as good. I have compared them numerous times and its spot on. Be careful ordering Mitutoyo online, lost of knock-offs out there.
Yeah, I'd bet the digital that I linked is counterfeit. You just don't find real ones for $54 new. I sent a web contact to Mitutoyo America and asked. Will let you know.

Surprising, I got a 19.95 one at Grizzly a couple of years ago and have been using it almost everyday with no issues.
bought this one from Harbour Freight over 10 years ago and it is still going strong after measuring thousands of times. Goes through about 4 batteries per year.

Unless you plan on removing the battery while it's not in use, don't buy one of those cheap chinesium ones. You'll end up paying the cost of a Mitutoyo in batteries in about a year.

True - but for loading ammo, 2 thou is OK. If I want to get better resolution I use a vernier calliper or a micrometer. When I win the Lotto...
Of all the "cheap" ones I've ever had access to, the Insize digital callipers have not yet disappointed.
And AFAIK, all digital calipers actually stays "on" the whole time, just LCD's that turn off. Most of the perceived battery issues experienced by uers are exactly that - the wrong battery - or to be more precise, the lesser type of battery is used because it is more common and less expensive. SR44 batteries cost more, but lasts longer than LR44 - but alas, I've yet to even see an SR44 where I live in my mud hut...

I got two decades of use out of Lyman. But yes, I bought batteries in multipacks for it, and eventually learned to take the battery out if I wasn’t actively loading for a bit.

Have three different sized iGaging EZ Cal calipers. None eat batteries. Each one can be moved quickly without slipping the adjustments.
After lots of playing and comparing to some quality mics, I think they are more than worth their bargain prices.

Batteries last good on mine also plus it takes those common round 2022“?” battery.

The igaging origin is a popular unit. I bought one for a backup to my Starrett. I like the Starrett a little better, but the igaging origin was less than half the cost.
I believe on your recommendation I'm going to purchase these.

Amazon has one of these with fractions also. This is what I have, comes in handy a lot for drill hole measures.
