With the passing of IMR 4007SSC there is once again a extruded powder void at the H380 burn rate. I used this powder extensively in my 220 Swift and it was ideal for 50 & 55 gr. bullets. It provided exceptional velocity and lower pressure and standard deviation than any of the ball powders and even though it was not labeled an "EXTREME" powder it had less temperature sensitivity than those ball powders. Perhaps when this powder shortage/availability issue passes or if we make enough noise Hodgdon will offer another powder at the 4007SSC burn rate ... maybe even an "CFE/EXTREME" version.

I called them last Wednesday, and they said there were no plans to replace it with anything.

I blame the poor sales on Hodgdon themselves. It is one of the most outstanding powders for the 22-250, the .220 Swift, 6mm Rem and 243 with mid to heavy bullets, and Hodgdon did absolutely nothing to advertise it or promote it.

I will buy all I can find for the moment, and worry later.

But PLEASE, Hodgdon, don't give us a CFE version (Gag!).

Is it definitely withdrawn? Googling it doesn't turn up any announcement as such, although I note it's disappeared from the IMR photo line-up and listings on Hodgdon's website.

I concur that Hodgdon did absolutely nothing to let shooters know what a dandy powder it is/was...

I am going to miss it too....

I never used it but read several articles about it and it does seems to fit a burn rate void in the IMR "stick" powders.

Just FYI: I don't know all the problems involved with shipping and all, but most of the powders that I hear on the different sites that are hard to get or discontinued are fairly common here in the S.E. I'm sure that the people around here that use them won't appreciate me saying that. Seems that about a week ago I saw a quantity of 4007 and Varget at the local Sportsmans Whse. (Columbia,S.C.) Maybe it'll help, I hope I'm not rubbing salt....., Later, Paul

It's a shame that it's being withdrawn. I hadn't read anything about this until now. This is what I use exclusively in my 7mm, with fantastic results. I had wondered why more people didn't mention this powder on here. I'm guessing poor marketing, as Catshooter said.

I have used 4007ssc in my 7mm-08 and 6mm br with great results!! Better results than anything I have used...now they have done away with it! It was just starting to grow in popularity...I'm glad I have 8lbs left...love this powder! I'm calling them tomorrow to express my discontent! Know what... we all should call them! I'm sure they could do away with some of their other powders!

Wow, this is the first I've heard of 4007 being discontinued. I've just spent the last six months developing a .223/90gr bullet load for my F-Class rig. I had it refined to the point of <10 FPS SD and the water line at 600 yards amazed me, it just flat out worked great. It figures! So it goes I guess.

Well fellow shooters...it's true Imr4007ssc is no longer being manufactured!!
Just got off the phone with hodgons ....main reason was no enough sales! Hard to believe...it's a great powder that really just started to catch on...so long 4007!!

as mentioned before, low sales really is their own fault for doing absolutely nothing to let shooters know about it, where it fit, and where it excelled.
