good buys in the scope market

I'm looking for good buys in a somewhat high power variable scope. I'm spoiled with my fixed Weaver t36 for the bench but that's not the route for this gun. Its a bolt action 223 in ar style chassis. I would like to be able to see bullet holes in poster board out to 300.

Sightron 10-50X60mm should do a fine job for around $750 or so used and $850 new here:

That's funny as I bought from this sight last week from this same link and the price is up $8.......I paid $841.14 each.

Honestly I think the Hawke 30 sidewinder series is the best bang for your buck! I and my friend have 6 of them on guns from 223 ground hog guns to 338-378 weatherby's and they track just as good as any scope I have owned ( I have Leupold, Sightron, Nightforce too) they aren't as clear but for $400 they are unbeatable!

Has anyone else tried the hawker 30 Sidewinder. Specifically the 8-32x56? What are your thoughts?

i'v been a leupold shooter for years. finally bought a nightforce and was amazed at the clarity...and the price! read a lot about sightron, so i found one on the for sale site here and bought it. WOW! 8-32 target dot and it IS CLEAR! comes very close to the nightforce. saw another and had a use for it and it has 1/8 min clicks which was a blessing for long range ghog shooting. $700-$750 previously owned and the lifetime warrenty follows the scope. truely a bargin.

I have read a lot about quality and service with the Vortex Viper. Thinking of a 6-24 for a live pasture poodle gun. Price also pretty good.

for what it's worth...I've never seen one in person, but have had multiple people (who own them) tell me that they're pretty darn good for the money... Pretty much the exact description that dragman posted above.
