Good available powders for downloading

748 is W748. For velocities, you can push as hard as you want, but accuracy and leading will depend on your bore size, diameter of bullet and check, hardness of alloy, etc.

A search for Larry Gibson on the castboolits.com web site will show tests of numerous cartridges in both jacketed and lead bullets complete with velocities, group sizes, pressures, etc.

.22 hornet,.223,7.62x39,7.62x54r,8mm Mauser,.30-06,308, 45-70, and probably more along with some pistol stuff soon
Straight case like 45-70, IMR 4198 or RL-7. Bottleneck cases like you listed (no experience with 7.62x39) IMR 3031, RL-7, H4895. Hornet I would try 2400 or IMR 4227.

If you can find Shooters World Buffalo Rifle powder it is the same powder as 5744. There has been 3 manufacturers of the 5744. Lovex or SW was the original maker of it. It is a very long grain powder and produces a lot of gas to operate some gas guns. It does not burn well as in clean with loads under 20K psi. It doesn't have any problems just not clean. And don't leave it in a powder hopper it will etch the plastic.

Some earlier SPEER manuals (pre-vista) had reduced loads for most non-magnum rifle ctgs
