Good AR scope for the money?

Looking for something in 1-4 magnification range. Would prefer illumination, but dont absolutely need it..
dont need target turrets.

I searched this on this site, but didnt see anything recent.
any recommendations?

Vortex strike eagle or Primary Arms

I was recently looking for the same thing and ended up buying the 1-6x24 Strike Eagle. Nice scope, no complaints so far.

I hear nothing but good things about the Vortex Strike Eagle from my friends. When I purchase another AR this is what will go on it.

I have a Vortex, but I also have those Nikons that come in 1-4 or fixed 3X. They are pretty good also. Not as good as the Vortex, but pretty good.

My all time favorite is a Leopold VX III 2.5x8x32 Boone and Crockett reticle - unfortunately no longer made. Light and trim with graduations making hits possible on 2/3 IPSIC out to 400.

Second choice I will try personally is a Leupold 1x4 hog hunter. The only other I would consider is the 3x9 Fire dot.
Although I haven't tried a Strike Eagle, it's Chinese, plus every Vortex I've personally had or tried to sight in for others has failed.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6, Athlon Argos 1-8, Meopta 1-4 (my personal fav.)
