Good 223 bullets for 300+

What are good bullets for a 223.300yards+ with 10mph+ winds.

What twist rifle barrel do you have the 90gr bullets work verry well but you require a 7 twist or faster. in an 8 twist you can shoot everything up to 80gr then in a 9 twist the 75gr Hornady HPBT match is a top performer followed buy the 69gr Sierra matchking. if you are limited to a 12 twist a 55gr BlitzKing is as good as you can get or an equivelant projectile.

What twist and barrel length and i can give you a better answer it is the old saying how long is a piece of string.

its a 1:12.sorry for taking so long.can you push a 60-62gr out.

It's not the weight of the bullet that matters, but the length. 70 Grain flat based projectiles will stabilize out of a 12" twist, but 69 grain boat tails won't. The longest boattail projectile that works in a 12 twist barrel is usually in the 55 grain range.

The best mix of ballistics and speed for your rifle might prove to be a 55 grain, polymer tipped bullet,Sierra BlitzKing, Nosler Ballistic Tip, Hornady V-Max). You get a reasonable BC, and can drive them faster than heavier projectiles

Second best option would be a hollowpoint boattail in the same weight. BC isn't as good as with the plastic tipped bullets, but it is still better than most soft point designs.

Do not use 55 grain full metal jacketed boattails, as most are not well made - accuracy will be worse than with either option presented above.
