Good 1-6x scopes in the $500-$700

Does anyone know of a good 1-6x scope in the $500- $700 range? On the low end at $265 I have seen the primary arms 1-6, but I wonder about its durability. On the High end in the $1000+ arena there are the offerings from Leupold, vortex, Trijicon, and bushnell, but these are all out of my price range. Im just wondering if there is anything out there that I am missing in the 1-6x scope market.

if you can swing it a used SWFA 1-6 is going to be about the best bang for the buck.

They must be good. I haven't seen a single used one for sale. At $1000 they are probably the least expensive of the higher end 1-6s. I cant help but question, how much functional difference is there between a 1-4 and a 1-6?

I'm thinking the same thing about 4x vs 6x. I've been looking at 6x scope for a rifle I'm assembling.
I've pretty much nailed it down to Leupolds VX-R Patrol 1.25x4. I'd like to have 6x but they are little out of my range.

They pop up from time to time over at Snipers Hide, if you can log in there. I lost my user name when the site changed, and now it won't take my password and won't send me a lost PW email so I just don't visit.

You will be pleased by a vortex PST FFP 1X4 (not quite to the six range) . 500 bucks (ish)

Ive messed with the Vortex, and I find that the reticle is too busy for low powered optic and the illumination is not very visible. Anyone using one of the Burris XTR II 1-5x scopes?

Just a note on the PA 1-6. I have one on my AR and, while it's not a $800 scope, I find it to be very durable, and the glass is better than the nikon scopes I've had that were in a slightly higher price range

So, I have actually owned and shot many of the low-power variable optics. I would assume this is for some type of semi-auto (likely AR)
Here is the list:
TR-24 1-4x w/green triangle
SWFA Classic SS 1-4x
Bushnell 1-6.5x SMRS
Vortex Viper PST 1-4x
Leupold VX-6 1-6x

I have wanted to try the Sightron 1-7x, with the LRIRMOA reticle. It is just a bit above your price range, and would certainly be high quality as most of Sightron's products are. The Burris 1-5x also looks like a great optic but I don't have first hand experience.

All are excellent quality optics. My favorite for a general purpose short to medium range optic is the TR24. The triangle is very fast with excellent illumination, and a very flat FOV. Plus no batteries. Otherwise it is the VX-6. The SMRS is great too but the eyebox is a bit more touchy at max power than the VX-6. The SMRS reticle design lends itself very well to precision though.

Feel free and ask me if you have any questions about any of these optics. While I try to avoid to being a shill, I also have a lightly used 1-6.5 SMRS, BTR-2 reticle w/SFP, that I would be willing to part with for a very reasonable price.

Natchez has the Bushnell elite 6500 1.25-8 on sale for $399 right now. Be aware that it has a long eye relief. I have never used it, but the reviews are good. If I weren't married I would order one for myself.

I recently bought a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x, I paid about $330 for it. It works well but have not hunted with it yet, that should be next week on elk. The scope worked great working up a load on my 1917 sporterized Enfield. The scope caps that come with it have minimal clearance on my gun and get opened every time the bolt is cycled. That is a minor complaint. We hunt in the lodgepole dog hair areas of the High Unitas in Utah, were the average shot is less than 100 yards. An occasional long shot presents itself however.
