Goo Gone for gun cleaning

I'm a pretty big believer of gun product for guns... especially in triggers and inside barrels. That being said. Regular Goo Gone is used to clean the inside of air rifle barrels. Take that for what it is worth. There is no carbon, only wax and very soft lead.

In 1983 I camo taped my 700 ADL and scope to reduce glare. Thirty-five years later I’m now hunting in ground blinds and decided to remove the tape which was a real PIA. What was left was a horrible residue that would not come off. Didn’t know what to do until a friend told me about Goo Gone. Bought some, used it and now I might have the nicest 40 year old 700 ADL wooden stock in the country. Never tried it for cleaning barrel inside but didn’t harm the exterior or the scope.

No, I haven't tried this.

There are a host of specifically designed and engineered products to clean firearms on the market today, so I do not understand this quest to drift off in the weeds for some new magical concoction with supernatural powers to clean firearms. Of course, I do not understand most of what is going on in our world today so it just may be me.

I use clr for carbon I would say why not but flush it out. Bit that's just me a back yard bench shooter plenty of experts on here

There is a balance of care for the stock involved with the cleaning of a quality rifle ....
Sure there are chemicals that'll clean the barrel up easier but one drop will eat paint, clearcoat & ruin bedding.

Because it just says bore cleaner, the price is 3 dollars a oz. If you shoot alot everything adds up and many of the products don't work that well. If you don't have a bore scope, you just hope its clean.
And the few products that do well the price gets over inflated. It is the American way.
