and FYI... Kevin Thomas is not employed by Capstone any more (unless that has changed back recently).
Technically Phil is truthful...Lapua made this brass consistent with Norma's specs and they did not make Remington 6 BR brass, implying short(1.510) as was the original length. I'm curious as to why Lapua put "Rem" on these case even though they were to Norma's specs. To thicken the plot, the box has a label starting "6mm BR Rem Boxer"..."Boxer"?
... Are these so old that Berdan primers were being used in Europe?I know this is getting away from the original post. Call it a trivia question. Lapua sent me te following reply today at 3:03 PM.
That's a good question Bill. I have been shooting LAPUA 6BR brass for 17 years and have never seen a cartridge case with this head stamp. Will find out and let you know!

Mine are all blue boxed, do they still use the blue box or are they all gold now?
They only make blue box stuff now. I have 2 different packaging styles of gold box brass pictured. The one on the left was the last style packaging, and the one on the right was the earlier packaging.

If I can chime in from left field here, I may be able to help clear up some of this . .. maybe. I’m not aware of any patent issues relating to the Remington manufacture of their BR cases, and I can’t imagine them worrying about another maker producing their chambering. After all, if it’s adding to the popularity of their chambering, that’s a good thing for them. I can’t say when the Lapua BR Rem cases were made, and I’ve never seen any prior to this. But the creation of the BR Norma cases wasn’t to get around any patent issues; it was to remain compliant with CIP regulations. I’ve mentioned this previously, but unlike SAAMI, CIP has force of law over its members, and can literally shut a manufacturer down if they are outside of CIP specs or regulations. SAAMI merely sets industry guidelines with which most makers voluntarily comply. When a chambering or cartridge is altered in some way that makes the resulting deviation incompatible with previous iterations, CIP requires that new version to have an entirely different designation to preclude mix-ups or confusion. The 6mm Remington case came to the attention of Intrnational 300 Meter competitors, but didn’t have enough bullet weight to be really successful in this discipline. A heavier, higher BC bullet was the solution. This required a faster twist than the 1x14” which was typically used in the original Remington version, as well as a significantly longer throat in rifles chambered for the 300 Meter guns. Working back the other direction, this meant that the heavier bullet ammunition intended for this game wouldn’t chamber in the vast majority of 6mm BR Remington guns out in the field. In this situation, CIP mandates that the cartridges have different designations. As Norma was the one doing much of th development of the new 105 grain Match bullets for this sport, they took the lead in standardizing the cartridge within the EU, hence the CIP nomenclature. Essentially the same case, but different cartridges, as it were.
Lapua merely produced the case that was best known to the EU competitive community, under the name that most would be familiar with. There’s a few other examples of this sort of CIP nomenclature issue, such as the 7.62x54 Russian. Lapua produces only the 7.62x53R case. Same case exactly, but as the 54R is nominally loaded with .311”, and the 53R with a .308” projectile, CIP requires a different designation. They ran into something similar some years back when we (they) introduced th .50 BMG case. The Lapua version is a true, match spec case, and they wanted to designate this on the head stamp. CIP said no. I’d have to ask Pekka Lintula (project engineer on that one) what the specifics were on why they couldn't use .50 BMG Match on the head stamp, but he was disappointed in being declined the new designation. Either way, it was a CIP decision, and not one made by Lapua.

I just got the following. So, we don't know how many were made. I have primed some(CCI450) and have never encountered such tight primer pockets! My primer pocket uniformed will not go in. My best attempts to measure the diameter of the pocket suggest it is .0005 smaller than Blue Box. I bought 2 boxes. The seller has chosen to keep the rest...smart man.
See Corey's answer above. We did use the Remington head stamp for a short time in the mid 90s so I stand corrected on my previous post in this string. Will let you all know anything else I find out on this from LAPUA.
