Going to bergara, ammo help?

Jumped in Rimfire shooting couple months ago to fill in the center fire lull, and bought a Cz Mtr and it shot great!! But I shoot left handed, and it was very uncomfortable on the bench with the profound right hand palm swell.
Sold it and a new Bergara B14r will be here today.

What ammo are you guys seeing work best in the Bergaras? Doesn’t seem as much info on these as the Czs
 
I shoot Eley Target in mine. It likes Eley Match better, but not enough for me to pay the extra cost. I shoot silhouette with mine so absolute accuracy isn't needed. Good enough is good enough.

Some caveats: It took about 300 rounds for the rifle to get up to speed. Initially I was unimpressed with the accuracy and ready to sell it. Second, for me it's extremely hold sensitive. In my hands it's prone to throw flyers if I'm not extremely careful to maintain a consistent hold shot-to-shot. I should blame the shooter, but it's distinctly different than other 22LR target rifles I own. Mine has the carbon fiber covered barrel. If I were to do it over again, I'd probably choose the steel barrel.

FWIW, the trigger isn't horrible but I wanted better. I read a bunch of posts on how to tweak it, but I just replaced it with a Triggertech. That was a vast improvement.
 
Carbon fiber on mine as well. It shoots ok but not great. Tired of testing ammo. The Shilen barrel thread sure has me thinking of a replacement.
 
The few i see at my club shoot i see shooting center x, eley target and eley match. They average around 1900 to 2200 on factory ARA targets not sure if the shooters are capable of better... or the rifle is the issue carbon barrel and steel barrels on the rifles.
 
I have both a steel and a carbon barrel.

Both shoot Eley Club and SK Match well. SK match is the best between those two at 100 yards and beyond. I’ve shot 10 shot groups at 50 yards under half inch quite often with it and SK MaTch.


Eley Tenex didn’t shoot very well at 100 compared to either Club or the SK.

One ammo that surprised me recently is Eley Semiauto BR. Shoots right with SK out to 100.

Haven’t had a chance to try it past that.
 
My carbon barreled b14r shoots eley really well. I have shot a bunch of Eley club through it, its my main ammo, and i am really happy. I have shot a few boxes of black box match and tenx and it shot even better but the Club is more than adequate for my current skill level.
 
Mine likes Lapua Center-X and SK Rifle Match. Eley requires a tighter headspace. The B14R has adjustable headspace via shims.
 
Mine likes black Eley and old gold box Lapua. It seems to shoot several types of ammo pretty good.
 
My Carbon fiber barrel likes TAC-22 of all things. Shot it just as well as the Eley and SK, if not a touch better. So much so, I bought 2000rnds of it for this year and that's all have been shooting. I will change the barrel this winter as the balance is not what I want, but actually like the stock better than my XLR Envy pro.

I've got a new Bergara BXR, out of the box benched in vise rest, with Eley black box match this is 5 shots, yours should do better being a bolt action. Mine is carbon fiber, I sold my steel one , sold in one day.Carbon fiber is sweet my first ever.This was at 25 yards. When I shoot 50 i'll post that group.That zero should put me half inch low at 50.

The guy whose winning at our ARA matches using a B14r is using SK long range match and it's available from Bruno's right now. Good luck sir
