GM TOP ENGINE CLEANER

I just order some GM TOP ENGINE CLEANER for a carbon cleaner in my rifles. What is the best way to use this product?

Be aware the New GM Top engine cleaner is not the same as the old GM Top engine cleaner. The old comes in a metal 16oz. can the new comes in a plastic dose unit despensing bottle. I don't think there are in any way the same solution.

I use the older formula and cut it with 4oz. of Marvil Mystery oil.

You can use it straight, mix it with some MMO or Kroil, or there are some "secret" formulas out there that use it as the basis for the brew.

As an alternate might try IOSSO paste. Have been using it for several years in all of my rifles from the competition ones to the sporters. All results have been verified by the Hawk-eye.

It is my understanding that the old version could remove some amount of copper,in addition to carbon), while the new version cannot. I don't believe anyone has suggested that the new version will not clean carbon.

I hate to gloat, but I still have 40 cans left. I mix 2 Sweets, 1 Kroil, and the balance Top Engine cleaner. I use enough Top Engine cleaner to make a gallon at a time.

The "secret formula" that I have includes TEC, MMO, Hydrogen Peroxide and 26.5%,or close to that) ammonia. The ammonia that I got came from an engineering supply outlet that makes copies of drawings for surveyors, etc.
13.5 oz. of TEC gets 5 or 10 c.c.'s of the other ingredients, don't have the formula handy but maybe someone else can supply the numbers.

I received my GM top engine cleaner from Bruno's today. I am disappointed. The item number on their website was the 105002 so I though I would be getting the old formula, but I got the new cleaner in a plastic bottle. This afternoon I stopped at our small town GM dealer and they had three cans of the original cleaner on their shelf. Well I guess I can try them both now., Or clean my engine)
