Glueing a Nesika Model K

ricco1949

I've converted my old light gun to a new 6.5 SAUM heavy gun for my Nesika Model K. It was previously bedded and screwed only so it has a lug on the existing barrel that still has a few competitive rounds left in it. I plan to glue and screw it into the new stock. My question is should I eliminate the lug and re-chamber or go ahead with the glue in leaving the lug installed. As most are aware the Model K has a substantial recess in the bottom of the action which appears to aid the glue in application without a lug. I realize I must drill two holes in the side of the stock to install/remove the trigger pins since there is no hanger. Any insight or experience would be appreciated.

I wouldnt worry about the trigger pin holes- it only takes 5mins to remove the action if you ever have issues. as for a lug if it was anything besides a magnum it would be fine with that recess but being a magnum I believe id have a proper lug. if you dont want to sandwich one in the barrel then id mill a piece of flat stock into the bottom of the action and screw that down to the action.

Gentlemen, thanks for the replies. I scoped the barrel and it is not as I remembered after six years without a bullet down it. 900 rounds did its thing and it needs a new one which I have on hand. I'll go ahead with the new barrel but chamber it with my 6.5 SAUM Short reamer that has shoulder pushed back .100 with a .350 long neck.
