Give it a Rest...

Good day,

If it hasn't sold or updated in three days, two weeks, or two months, give it a rest, update the price or a new thread with better options. I don't want to hit the ignore button on folks, they sometimes have something of interest.

Awaiting the firestorm,

I agree. I’ve been watching one add for months and I just shake my head. I saw the same gun sitting in a local gun shop for months for a LOT less and asked the owner about it. He told me if anything breaks on it, you can’t get parts.

No one is forcing you to click on the listing. I think you should let individuals decide how, when and why they want to list something and mind your own business. I’m sorry if I worded that strongly but you don’t know the financial position individuals may be in and the sale could be of great importance to them.

Dave.

there many times is someone who eventually comes along willing to pay a fair price instead of only willing to pay a CHEAP price. Its happened to me and id like to take this opportunity to thank them all. Go ahead and hit ignore if it bugs you. That will be one less competitor for the rest of us. But, like most things, If you want the best deal you gotta be willing to do a little work for it.

Why not just make an offer??? Or has that gone out of style? All they can do is say no.
Here’s a perfect example and for the record it was on a different forum. Years ago there was an item posted for sale that was of interest to me but the seller had the item priced way out of line. I watched the item for about two months. Every day or so the post would pop up to the top with the usual “BTT” by the seller. Finally I PM’ed the seller with a very fair (real world market value) offer. The seller replied with a surprisingly snotty diatribe about lowballers and added a colorful assessment of my general character. A simple “No thanks” would have sufficed.

The point is not that I have fragile sensibilities. In truth the seller probably was either unfamiliar with the actual value of the item or he was hoping to find a sucker to overpay. Either way I learned that making an offer below asking price can ruffle feathers. Aint worth the hassle.

Isn't that a reason why some of us are gold and silver membership. To be able to place ads ( multiple) . Nowhere did I see any rules that stated if not sold in a certain amount of days that the price must be reduced or taken off.
If the price to high then move on to the next ad.

I have purchased several things here. If I felt the item was a bit out of my price range, I would PM the seller and make a reasonable counter offer. PM prevents any issues going public.
I have a rifle for sale here. I mentioned that a reasonable offer would be considered. Works for me.

Not all the members visit here daily, or even weekly.

I posted a for sale item. Lots of looks, but no inquiries.

Bumped it a few times ..... quit a awhile later, it got sold to a members here that I do not recall seeing posts from.

Since, I have sent him PM's updating progress (payment and shipping). However, no response. So, called him to advise of the progress.

I’d like people to use the colored Selling, Sold or Wanted category.
Those are only available to contributing members. But totally agree, when a sale is agreed upon, change the banner to SOLD or at least put SPF in the title.

Since this seem to be the rant post, bugs me when people use a title like: Wanted
At least put enough description in the title to define what you are selling or what you want.

In my opinion that’s a silly thing to worry about. It’s not a big deal to me to see an ad for days, weeks or even months. I don’t have to click on it, I can scroll right on by easy enough. Items I’m interested in I watch. I’ll submit an offer or ask them if their price is firm by PM. We meet somewhere in the middle, they accept my offer or they tell me they are firm on their price - not a big deal …. The classifieds are a huge attraction here, I’m sure it gets the majority of the foot traffic. I just wish more guys that use the classifieds, especially those that have multiple transactions would buy a membership, seems only fair in my eyes.
