Giruad Case Trimmer

I am new to using a Giruad and played around with it last night for the first time. I used to chamfer and debur after every firing and I was curious if those using the Giruad feel the need to still chamfer and debur. I feel as though i cant get enough chamfer on the inside of my necks.

Also are you using your Giruad after every firing with out adjustment to achieve a proper chamfer and debur.

The way the Giraud adjusts you should easily be able to create more chamfer by adjusting a combination of the blade in and out along with the depth being adjusted. Over the years I've played with creating massive to nearly no chamfer by playing with those two adjustments. Get some shot-out brass and be aggressive with the adjustments so you can see what it's capable of without worrying about ruining good brass.

And yes, I trim/chamfer/debur every time. In my case I honestly don't care about what a book says my brass should be so if I just set it up so it takes the absolutely minimal amount off while still doing the three operations to the mouth.

Also, the better your sizing consistency the more equal all pieces will be trimmed since it indexes off the shoulder.

Just so i understand you correctly, you have your giruad set up so that it trims chamfers and deburs, you do not chamfer and debur in a separate step.

Also you not using the bottom of the V on the cutter head to do the process your using more of the side? If you could, can you please take a up close picture of how your case interfaces with your cutting head.

The whole point of having a Giraud (or any other trie-way trimmer) is so you can accomplish all three steps at once saving time and effort. When it's done you'll have a nice inside and outside chamfer with a small flat spot on the top (not a razors edge). I can't take pics, I don't have a Giraud anymore but here's a trimmed piece of brass.

Do yourself a favor and buy Forster Die Lock Ring(s) for the Giraud case holder(s). Makes adjusting/repeating the depth setting easy.
