I've got a Giraud scope stand that I've been pretty happy with over the years but having some more time on my hands, I want to remove the backlash that exists when the legs are in the deployed position. This extra clearance contributes to swaying in the wind or oscillation if it is bumped. Looking for ideas from anyone that has tackled this on a Giraud or similar style stand. I see about half a dozen ways to approach it, each with pluses and minuses. Ideally, it the modification would work with no extra steps or major alteration of how the legs rotate and cam into place. Realistically, I can tweak a couple knobs if it comes to that. I've got the machines to make parts if needed, including a 3D printer.
