Ginex primers hard to seat?

l've been doing a bit of info gathering and ONE gent commented abt hard seating.
Before l snag 5k of those, l would like some feedback re seating. My intended use is .223, swaged.
TIA guys n gals.

I bought some to have on hand, just in case, I have tried both the large and small and found they will sometimes seat a bit harder, if I remember correctly, it was in the 223 that I had some issues but I suspect those may have been cases that I had to ream out the crimp on. I hand prime my cases. I guess I would say, you may experience some harder to seat issues, but nothing major in my opinion, on another note, I could tell no difference in my groups, using both the SR and LR, I would/will purchase again.

I purchased a couple of thou Ginex primers several years ago and regretted every bit it. Once they were seated they did their job but in the end it just was not worth it. I turned them in to the local Bomb Squad
(literally) and said goodby. FWIW every time I try primers from Europe they all seem just that much tighter than what we get here. That said, we are being screwed over by manufacturers here big time!

I've found Unis Ginex primers to take a bunch more effort to seat.
In relatively new 223 brass, one or two out of a hundred would actually get mashed - i.e., wrinkled a bit.

At the same time, they seat much easier in 10X fired brass => essentially extends the useful life.

I've loaded about 2500 in 32SWL and 38Spl (all well-shot Starline cases, albeit with light target loads.) I find them very slightly harder to seat than CCI, but not aggravatingly so. I prime on a Hornady AP.

I have not used their rifle primers.

This topic has been discussed here at length and there is a tremendous amount of info . . . . .

FWIW I have not noticed any difference in the small pistol primers between these, Magtech, CCI and Federal. No experience with small rifle and .223.

Can someone that uses Ginex SR primers measure the diameter of a few for compare them to the measured diameters of other commonly-used SRPs such as Fed/CCI/Rem?

As noted above by @markm87, I can imagine the Ginex primers might be of use in .223 Rem F-TR loads to get an extra firing or two out of the primer pockets, which don't always have such great longevity when shooting heavies in F-TR.

There are 2 different versions of the SR primer that you find. One is the Primer 4,5/3-P3 for Small rifle. The other is designated as a 5.56 primer. The Small Rifle primer measures the same as a Fed 205 and seats fairly easily. I have not used any of the 5.56 primers so I can't comment on them.
I have some of the LR primers from long ago and they are a bear to try and seat with a hand held primer seater. I have to use the RCBS bench mounted seater to get them to seat. And they perform well for me.
As an aside, I gave some of the 4,5/3-P3 SR primers to Jackie Schmidt and I am pretty sure he is using them in his 30BR VSF rifle and he is using a hand seater. But they won't handle the pressure in his 6 PPC

Seem to remember an article awhile back that measured them and there were within specified size range. Maybe the cup material is just a tad bit harder......

I use Ginex Small Rifles Primers in my 30BR. They do seem just a little tighter in the Lapua Case, but it does not present a problem.

I did a write up on them a while back.

I decided to try these since they were available at a "decent" price. The ones I got were the 4,5/3-P3 for Small rifle version from American Reloading. I also measured these and they are pretty much spot on with Rem 7-1/2 and the Federal 205M in terms on diameter. I don't have a good method to measure the overall height, as the anvil doe protrude slightly out of the case mouth, but in my feeble attempt I was getting pretty close to the same values as the others, but not enough precision to say anything for sure. Now that said these are very difficult to seat in Lapua 223 brass and the hand priming tool leaves an indentation by the time that I get them below flush, not quite as bad as I have seen on winchester primers when trying to seat them on poorly swaged MIL crimped brass, but it is certainly a noticeable deformation.
I gave them a try, yesterday just to see how they functioned (10 rounds) and all went well enough that I decided to give them a whirl for this mornings F class match here on the Gulf. Big surprise- Best consistency I have seen in this rifle as far as SD goes. Three strings with 6.5, 7.2 and 11.3 SD as measured via shotmarker at 600 yds. The shooter did not do his part for score, but I was impressed enough that I will do further to work. Velocities were right on par with the 205M, and a bit slower than the 7-1/2. Now understand that I don't push this load as for some reason it just likes to shoot slow better and I finally resolved myself to quit chasing the velocity.
My load for today in my 223 Ackley was 23.6 Grains Varget, Hornady 88 ELDM (moly) Lapua Brass, seated at 1.925 and the Ginex primers. Did not clock them today but quickload gives me 2640 @ 42kpsi, and my dope was pretty much in line with that. So I think they hold some promise, at least as a backup.
Since I had to order 3k minimum I'm going to hand out a bunch to other members at the range if anyone wants to just test them and have some backup data for the next shortage/crisis and not have to buy an unknown if bulk. I'll try to post any feedback I get.

They are hard to seat. I read on another forum that they were hard to seat because they were a metric primer. Still haven't figured out the metric primer part of the story yet.

It is kind of like trying to use a 10 mm socket to remove a 3/8" bolt. The 10 mm is portion of a mm too big.
The European countries and others use machines that are made using the metric system for measurements. US companies machines are made using feet, inches and portions there of

I measured cup diameter of the Ginex 4,5/3-P3 SR an CCI 450.
Got 0.1751"/0.1752" for both. 4.5mm is 0.177" Did not find any that big.
0.1752" is 4.45mm.
Avg weight of the Ginex was 3.43 grains, the CCI 450 was 3.69 grains.
@ 300yds, 22 Nosler, 85.5, SB6.5 the 10 shot average of the Ginex was about 10fps slower.

Sellier and Bellot are also metric. I've seated almost 5000 now. I'm with Jackie, they seem to be a little tighter. With all the arthritis in my hands I have moved to a benchtop priming tool and make do. I have bought 5000 Ginex and I think I'm going to buy another 5000 for my .223 FTR rifle.

I have noticed that they seat nice and tight in most cases but nothing objectionable. I've only used the large rifle primers.
