Gettysburg theft

Someone broke into the museum at Gettysburg and stole firearms. Hope they catch them as they are probably invaluable! Hard to believe the security wasn't tighter, apparently they broke in through a window.

Later article said the bust was returned by a family who found it laying in a cemetery near by. Kinda weird if you ask me.

I was talking about the Bust of Mr.Honest himself. I didn't notice the date on the article of 2015. That was returned hours later.

It has nothing to do with the firearm theft of this year. My fault, I jumped the gun on that one(pun intended).

Terrible. I live in UT but visit my son and family in PA a couple times a year and the wife and I get to Gettysburg yearly. I had family on both sides. This is a huge part of Americas history and every effort should be made to recover items taken.

It would be helpful to know what was stolen. Anybody got that information?

Just a guess, but I bet it was Assault Rifles from the period.

Can you imagine them showing up in the hood. They wouldn't know what to do with them. I hope they get caught and soon before they end up in a river or go overseas.

I believe you are in an earlier time period. Flintlock, maybe but not a blunderbuss. I am sure it was probably some cap guns also. But in either case your right they wouldn't make a good drive by gun. Matt

One long gun and two handguns they said tonight. They are releasing more information tomorrow.

My bad, it was the Civil War Museum in Harrisburg not Gettysburg! Didn't even know Harrisburg had one! Seems two Colt cap and ball revolvers, in one display case, and a Henry rifle, on loan to museum, we're stolen.
