Getting discouraged

Case length is trimmed to 2.610" i measured the area right infront of the belt after sizing and its .511" i noticed on all my cases there is a mark on the body about .240" up the body from the case head. It looks like there is a high spot in the chamber rubbing on it or something. It could be the brass is over sized and rubbing hard in the chamber. I sized a twice fired peice and chambered it with marker on the whole body. Right where the chamber ends on the case its untouched except that one spot. I cleaned it with a brush and bit of 0000 steel wool and it helped but is still a fairly good size mark. It also had ejector swipe on the case head even tho i just chambered it.

I looked at that collet die, that sounds like it would solve my problem! Sorry if i didnt catch on sooner. Would a Rcbs small base die work the same? But there is still the question of the ejector marks. Would the base being to big cause them?

Have you checked your Case Length? If it's too long, the case neck may extend past the end of the chamber, slightly crimping down on the bullet, raising chamber pressures.
Trim all cases to minimum specs and try that.
This is good advice. I recently checked my 1x fired .308 Lapua cases and was surprised to find that a majority of them were past SAAMI specs....

Talked to Larry and then ordered the die online. after using it i hope the new appearing ejector marks go away. I like the sinclair case length tools that you seat in a case and then close the bolt gives you a idea how long you can go before trimming.

When loading for the 300 win. mag. most of the shooters used imr4350 powder when the 300 mag was king of the 1000yd. match line... I remember the 300 mag was used by 80 percent of the shooters ..They shot usually 200 or 210 grain pills down the tube near max. speeds and they bucked the wind well..Then the 300 win. mag got replaced by the 6.5 x 284 and the story goes on...keep straight....
